Has anyone tried to play a movie on it? How does it run/look? I would not do it a lot, but I would like the option to play a moive landscape if I am on the train, etc.

I am also concerned that speed will be an issue with this PDA/phone. Is this something I should really be concerned with?

the videos dither fine, but there's a one second or so delay with the audio - it's about the same as a h5455 running windows 03. it was the same overall speed as the 5455 for a couple of mame/rom games i tried, too.

Thanks for the reply.

I am just worried that it is going to slow and I will regret not getting the VGA and the faster processor. Ugh, I have no idea what to do!

I have no delay what so ever it's all in how you encode.... I have Passion of The Christ on a 256MB SD card I just ripped and encoded yesterday with NO DELAY running smooth as silk.... My advice? Download DVDx, rip to Divx, then encode with Pocket Encoder, no lag runs just fine!!!

It depends on size, too. I rip everything via TMPegEncoder to mpeg format, and then again with Windows Media Encoder 9 to full screen wmv files. It performed the same on different videos I tested. When I altered it to 'fit in window' the sound caught up, but it was smaller than I like viewing videos, especially on a 3.5" screen.

Usually, DivX is the best codec to consider if you want to watch movies on your Pocket PC. What I usually do is use XMPEG, followed by PocketDivXEncoder to output a PPC friendly DivX file. Those experiencing audio-video sync issues should check out their encoding settings. For a machine like the 6315, I highly doubt that this issue is attributed to the machine itself. My h1940 only has a Samsung S3C2410 266MHz and runs DivX movies just fine. So the 6315 shouldn't struggle to run DivX movies. Use BetaPlayer (http://betaplayer.corecodec.org) to run DivX files. It is a solid player.

okay, so I guess speed is not a major issue here. Here is another question, outside of the screen, what would be something that I could not run on the 6315 but I could run on the 4700 with no issue? I am tring to see the difference between the two in real life....

yea, but the samsung in the 1945 always ran video and games better than almost everything.

...but I haven't been a big Divx user - maybe it'll get better performance. I'm going to download the programs and give em a shot.

Ah... the wonders of Samsung processors. Tomshardware actually did a good review of it about a year ago. If you're interested: http://www.tomshardware.com/mobile/20040109/index.html
