I have an ipaq 4150 which normally works fine, no problems. Now activesync runs, connects to the PC and starts syncing, then disconnects. A minute or so later it starts it again. Three things have changed which I presume are the cause;

I set up a second partnership with my home PC - this is the first time I have tried syncing with my laptop since then

I downloaded a new copy of Pocket Informant recently, installing it to my PC with a view to installing it to the ipaq when I next synced. I hadn't managed to sync it when I needed to do a system restore to solve another problem. Will this have messed anything up?

I am also using a new cable to connect the ipaq to the PC - a USB sync cable. Could this give me the problem? I can hear the USB connection sound going on and off everytime it disconnects. Is it possible that the cable gives this 'intermittent' type connection? Just seems a bit odd that it connects and disconnects on such a regular basis...

Am also trying IR but that does not seem to be working either??

Ahhhrrrrrggg! This is getting worse!! Following some advice from another forum I have tried the following;

Soft reset of the ipaq, reboot of the laptop - no change
Re-install activesync - no change
Undo last restoration of PC to last known config that worked - no change
Hard reset of ipaq - no change except now - I have lost all the info on my ipaq and can't get it back on!

Basically with the ipaq connected via USB it connects, asks me if I want to setup up a partnership, gets as far as starting (sometimes) but then disconnects, so it is back to square one! It also won't let me use the original partnership name as it says that is already in use! I have (almost) got as far as synching and so now my ipaq seems to be called 'ipaq1'. How do I change that back to what it was before?

HELP!! :cry: :cry:

Well it might be worth checking what other software you installed recently, especially internet / proxy software. Some proxy software messed up my activesync a few days ago

Thanks for that - it looks like it was a fault of the sync/charger cable. I got a reply on Brighthand pointing me along the lines that their sync cable only worked when the battery on the ipaq was fully charged - looks like mine may be the same.. Guess I will have to get back in touch with PDAbitz as I don't really see that I can use the cable again!
