Hello,

I have a Dell Axim X3, and I was looking into getting a 802.11b Card to enable wireless internet to take advantage of the wi-fi around town. Now the only thing left is to figure out what kind of network card to get...

I'm on a pretty low budget, so I'm basically looking for the cheapest card I can get. I don't care if it's not as fast, not as wonderful as the rest, as long as I can connect with it! If anyone could refer me to such a card, that would be nice.

Also, I don't know much about the cards, but how do you install them? I've gotten a few impressions that they fit in through the slot where you'd keep a storage card...is that true? I feel pretty stupid asking but anyways... If not, Would it be neccessary to bring my PPC into the shop and pay some outrageous fee to install the card or is there something easier? I'm not very experienced with the physical technology of any kind of computer, so I'm not so thrilled iwth the concept of gutting my machine. Any advice here either?

Thanks for any help anyone has to offer!

Thankfully, you do not need to take it to a store to get installed. The wireless cards available for your PPC are easy to install yourself (simply stick it in your storage card slot). After you stick it in, you install the drivers and you're up and away.

As your X3 takes SD cards, you have to get an SD compatible 802.11 card. Sandisk offers one, and so does Socket. You should see their home page for more information.

These cards aren't cheap due to their small nature, although if you look around, you can usually find some good deals.
