I'm new here. My handle is Frankenbike because that's what my friends call me after my motorcycle with all its hand made brackets and non-posery utility items, as well as parts adopted from different years and such. I'm an unrepentent biker geek.

Tried doing a search, but couldn't find anything resembling my question.

I got an Axim x30M about a month ago. I've got it pretty nicely set up for what I use it for. But mail has been a bugger.

I recently got nPOP, which works better than the 2003 mail client, but my SMTP connection to my ISP is somewhat idiosyncratic. So I installed an SMTP server on my host machine.

I connect to the host via Active Sync. The normal SMTP connection to my ISP works, when the ISP isn't screwing around with it. But I want to use my host machine's SMTP server. The host machine is hooked up to a cable/DSL router, and has the IP address 192.168.1.1. I use the SMTP server with my regular PC email (The Bat!), with no problems. I just have the host machine's name in the SMTP server slot, with the appropriate port, and it works perfectly. No login or password required. I've tried the same in nPOP and it doesn't work. I've tried the host machine's assigned (by the router) IP address, and it doesn't work. I've watched the activity on the SMTP server, and the PPC/Active Sync isn't even trying to reach it.

Anyone try anything like this on any PPC email client and gotten it to work? If it's been discussed before, any idea how I can find it?

Solved the problem. nPop requires an email address in the "Address" slot. Not an IP address. Of course, with no documentation, this took some time (the time to "try everything and use what works") to figure out.
