There are two iPAQ PPCs in my corporate awards catalog, the HP 1945 and the HP 3900. The 3900 has been sitting around for awhile (battery life issue?) but has the legendary 'best screen out there'. The 1945 form factor is truly pocketable yet has less memory. Does the 1945 suffer from 'yellow screen'?

Is there a best choice here?

Thanks !

I have the 1945 and absolutely love its form factor, both size and shape. The 'yellow screen' is visible, but only to a small extent, and for first time PPC users, it should be just fine. The 1945 was my first PPC, and I have absolutely no complaints over it.

The 1900 series, in my opinion, wins the award for the best looking PPC device. My mom has one and it's just beautuful. It's so amazingly small and has Bluetooth (very important).

I'd go for the 1945 if I were you.

I prefer the 3900 over the 1945. Bigger screen, better looking screen, better sound quality and Nevo remote control software....

1945 all the way - the form factor trumps the differences between the two. The yellow screen thing was way overblown IMHO and not a factor in making a choice.

I agree. The so-called "yellow screen" is more than made up for by the good specs, cheap price, excellent form factor, and weight.

Thank you all for your replies. Another caveat; I LIVE by the alarm feature. The 3900 uses PPC 2002, the 1945 has WM 2003.

1) How often do you 1945 users experience missed alarms and
2) is the speaker loud enough to hear alarms in a noisy car?

Thanks again !

you did the right choice. see, everyone is amazed with the form factor of 19xx series. i have an 2215 and my friend has a 1945, when you hold two in your hands you can notice the big difference, and think of the comparison of 1945 againist 36xx !

I had issues with my Hp2200 and alarms... they never fired. I now use WolfClock.. a free clock program and it has not failed to fire yet.

Is this alarm problem you are talking about attributed to one of WM2003's bugs? If so, there is a fix for it available.

 I should have put the original post in the iPAQ area. Moderator feel free to move.
