OK so I sold my U70, it was an amazing piece of technology but overkill for my needs. Plus it was a major expense and I could not justify it. So now I can really splurge on a top of the line PPC and not feel guilty. I was really considering the Nexio S160, but it seems like the Win CE 4.1 is a major limitation.

When the heck are the new PPC's coming out, specifically the VGA ones!! Why are they delayed so much. From what I gather thru searches the HP has been delayed until October, the Asus is coming out in October but without bt, and no one even knows if the loox will be released in the US. Honestly the loox "loox" like the best PDA out of all of them.

So whats "official" on release dates?

LOL, no loss on it at all. I tried to make it work, but I guess handtops will just not be mainstream until they either get a useable keyboard, or are the size of a PPC and have absolutely perfect handwriting recognition. I may give the flipstart a try when it comes out.

Well, I am lookin at my new PDA :) I gave up waiting for the new ones...the loox or the A730 were my choices at the end, but depressing rolled back release dates caused my last thread to snap, and in a fit of agony, I bought my A716...and I truly love it. When ever I regret jumping ahead of the new pdas, I just remember the battery capacity I have (1500 mAh, and a FREE spare!) compared to smaller batteries and higher demand.

Couple years from now, I'll get one of the VGA SE pdas...probably in a SmartPhone type...and my provider might even support it by then.

Wow! I am putting an order in today. This is actually the best one out of all the VGA ones, except maybe the Dell one. It has a camera, is one of the smaller ones, has both wifi and bt built in, dual memory slots, didnt put most of its memory into ROM like someone else... And best of all, it is available very soon.

Let's hope this really ships and is not just a tease.

Can this be right? According to the specs on the expansys site the Loox is just a tad longer, a tad narrower, but same thickness as the 2215?? Tell me this is not a dream come true. Don't know the specs for the asus, but I have heard it is very thick.

I'm really wondering what the benefit of the larger 4700 is, 3.7 versus 4" screen really does nothing for me, and the Loox has way more RAM than the 4700 does.

hp4700 131 x 77 x 14.9mm, 186.7h
Loox 720 122 x 72 x 15 mm, 170g
HP2215 115.4 x 76.4 x 15.4 mm, 144.2g

Many reviews exist and point out the dimensions:

Just placed my order!! Hopefully I will see it in a couple of weeks. Sorry Asus you took way too long to release anything, much less a dual wireless solution. And HP is just making too many downhill decisions lately for me.

By the way I ordered from http://www.clove.co.uk/products/products.asp?strAreaNo=400_1_10 which is a good 60 bucks cheaper than Expansys. Just use the discount code of Firstloox £10 and it will be like $18 bucks cheaper. My total with shipping was $637.

If you are from Canada, I plan to order from Clove Technology too.

But remember, Credit Card companies charge conversion fees (Around 3-4%). I worked it all out and I can get the device about $150 CAD dollars cheaper from Clove than from eXpansys Canada.

eXpansys = $1,002.51 CAD

Clove Technology = Just below $900. CAD

Yes I just was informed of this. It's a shame because it looks like Clove is $60 cheaper, but when I figure in my credit card companies conversion rates Expansys is a bit cheaper, and thats with overnight shipping compared to Cloves 7 day shipping.

So I cancelled my order and placed an order with Expansys. In theory I should have my unit on Sep 10!!

Funny. For me, Clove Technology is cheaper STILL!

Oh, and don't forget the fact that Clove Technology has great customer feedback - as with eXpansys - well, it's simply not comparable.

Expansys is $684 with $20 2 day shipping = $704. With overnight shipping it is $718.95. As opposed to Clove with the current exchange rate of my Fleet/Visa card at $713.19 with seven day shipping. Upgrading to 3-5 days at an additional 11pounds is an additional $21, or a grand total of $734.19 to get it in 3-5 days from Clove, wow. So ordering from Expansys is cheaper and much much faster.

I have ordered many things from Expansys. I cannot comment on their customer service as I have never had to call them, but their items always shipped on time as promised. The Clove deal is awesome if you are in the UK, but unfortunately their lack of a US prescence hurts orders in the US. It is not their fault, blame customs and greedy credit card companies.

But either way it looks to be pretty close price wise, I dont think you will go wrong either way.

Looks like the Loox 720 will be delayed a week due the recent Typhoons in Taiwan which effected HTC's production schedule.

Holy crap!! If it is delayed too much Fujitsu may end up losing customers to Dell if that 9/24 turns out to be a release date!

Holy crap!! If it is delayed too much Fujitsu may end up losing customers to Dell if that 9/24 turns out to be a release date!

But then it is only 1 week - and HTC will also be making the Dell X50 - so that would be subject to the same delay.

Plus - I doubt that 24/9 will the release date of the new Axim - merely the point at which Dell don't mind people knowing about it - the pre-release publicity phase.
