With the release of EXSMS Adv. (Advanced) it now is also possible to send your messages encrypted to other EXSMS Adv. users, so you can be assured nobody is eavesdropping on your messages. Although the regular Advanced version only uses a 40bit key which might be good enough for many occasions, it is possible to order a special license using stronger keys at special request. The application can run not only on Pocket PC Phone Edition, but also on a Smartphone, and can be found at Handango [affiliate] for $27.99.

Cool idea. I'm curious about how many people feel like their electronic communications need to be encrypted.

Hm, hm, hm... first of all this program sounds to me like a pretty nice thing to burn more money thorugh useless SMS  ... second and referring to JGUI's track record in selling expensive products that never work anyway I doubt it's even worth a look

I give a free trial versions, as usual. You can check if it works fine in your device. This program installs only the one exe file, no specials. You can easy delete this file if you test and do not like it.

I give away both Pocket PC Phone Edition and Smartphone versions, you can buy one of them or both with discounted price.

Of course ecnryption features work only between PPC Phone Edition and/or Smartphone. (cross-platform work fine, no problems).

And I decreased the price of the ordinary EXSMS (without encryption) below $10. To be honour.

Because I got many asks hot to use the encryption,
I explain it here (later I will add this instruction in the program's web page):

1. Close any other programs you use for SMS or Email.

2. Open EXSMS Adv.

3. Write the password you agree with the receiver (more than 4 characters)

4. Turn on the encryption mode (for using: once or all-time)

5. Write your message (not max. 160 but only 80-100 characters)

6. Click Enc.Send button

... if you get reply or new SMS message encrypted:

(7.) Write the password if you did not made the step 3

8. Turn on the ecryption mode to see message decrypted

9. If you want to hide the contect, just turn off the encryption mode

One final step:
do not leave the phone with the password written or EXSMS opened (the password will delete when you close this program).

In the upcoming 2.2. version I re-organize the menu with separate mode: Encryption and Decryption. You can keep Encryption turned on while Decryption not and vice versa. Or both together of course.

Sounds useful and easy, but unfortunately a system such as this can not be trusted unless its completely open source and compiled by your choice of open source compiler (add infinitum of course  )

I any case if you are serious about encrypting your sms communication, you are probably better of doing it by hand using a stack of one-time pads. Its only 160 characters in any case

Surur: you're man!

I can only agree.

But for such a "true" serious encryption, I can put inside Blowfish, IDEA or some other codes with full source code of my program. On the corporate request and a little higher licence price. 8)

Any way: I think I can be sure, that for 90% of people the 40bits encryption is enough for today's times. Why? Because 3/4 of attacks are not the kind of brute force, but psychological stealing unsafe passwords. Who could want to spend the working time of a few really big computers to force 40bits password for hours? We may image that the important hidden message, worth these above costs, can be sent by another way than SMS service.

But for boss, co-workers, wife, pseudo-friends (I think I could list here a little more), this encryption is strong enough. Faraway better than the clear text messsage.

Well... ok, we can discuss: between 60 and 90%. 8)
