Take a look at the PocketPC FREEWARES - Emulators (http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?cat=14&sortby=) page.
I personally think that PocketSCUMM (http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=550) is a real winner since you can play all of the classic LucasArts adventure games but the GameBoy (http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=707), Apple (http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=262), and Atari (http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=258) emulators are also pretty neat.

There are lot's of emulators available for the Pocket PC (http://www.zophar.net/ppc/ppc.phtml), and I don't think the emulators themselves are considered warez.. although the roms might be.

It is usually the case that emulators are available freely for public use. However, to run software on it, you must have the rights to do so (in other words, you must possess the licence of the software, and ensure that using it on an emulator does not break the terms of agreement as established by the software company). ROMs are another matter. You must own the device to be able to use the ROM. And the ROM file must be created via your device. You cannot own a device, and use another ROM of the same device as version numbers may be different. Again, you must ensure that any use of ROMs does not break the agreement between you and the hardware manufacturer. This applies to all devices, whether it be a graphics calculator, or your blender (which probably does not have a ROM anyway). :shocked!:
What I've written here applied to devices years ago, and I'm still sure it applies today. Although correct me if I am wrong. :)

Sometimes an emulator for non-consoles needs ROMs to work, such as for the Commodore 64 emulator. But, you can actually buy a really nice emulator with officially licensed ROMs:

Anyway - Feel free to talk about emulators, but please don't post links to sites to download ROMs.

Don't PS and PS2s use a different hardware architecture from what you would expect for PCs and PPCs (I suspect)? An X-Box can effectively be emulated on a PC, but try a PS2 one and you will get serious lag due to architectural hardware differences.

I'm going to show my ignorance here, because I've never tried any emulators, but...
If you get an emulator for a console game, how do you get the game from the cartridge to the Pocket PC?

Game cartridge gnomes?
(I don't know either and kind of wondered myself.)

It is like you and your eVests! They pound away at getting these games and they must have figured out a way to do it!
