I keep getting this error whenever I try to install a program on my pocket pc. I have a toshiba e740 with windows 2002 on it. It doesn't matter what I try to install, it keeps coming back to that error. Anybody have any ideas as to how I can solve this?

How are you trying to install it?

If you just paste to the device itself it wont work unless it is a cab file, if it isnt you have to install trough activesync

well, i was using my sd card transfer files with a card reader, so that won't work.

can't activesync through cradle/cable cuz it won't connect at all. tried updated drivers and all pretty much, for the ppc anyways.

Download the USB patch Toshiba has up on its site, that should solve the connection problems.
Do a search for it.
Copying to the sd card wont work unless you have cab files.

Krypto...what exactly are you trying to install? You would typically receive that error message if you attempt to install a program not designed for a PPC. This means you cannot run Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Palm, etc. software on a PPC.

Well, I searched for some ppc software, what I am looking for is updates, ie for internet explorer, also the newest version of WMP, stuff like that.

I have tried everything that toshiba has to download to try and solve this activesync problem. Nothing works, windows xp pro doesn't even recognize the toshiba e740. I don't have the software for it anymore either.

I don't think there are updates for IE for the PPC, but there are ones for WMP which can be found in the relevant section in http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmedia.

If you want to try the latest ActiveSync, head on down to http://www.pocketpc.com and download it.

If in doubt, read the manual to see what you can and cannot install on to your PPC. Again, I must stress that PPCs only run PPC designed software.
