Has Microsoft forgeten that its own PocketPCs are not only capable but great for playing music and video????
I have just downloaded a beta version of WMP10 (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/mp10/default.aspx) that is supposedly due for release this week and was rather excited as it has a feature called Autosync. Autosync can download and also transcode from what I understand all different sorts of media to portable devices. Previous versions of WMP have seen the pocket pc and its storage card ... and now this "upgrade" no longer sees thier own products???
Anyone else tried it or have any comments or suggestions on how to see the PPC in WMP???
Cheers,
Mariano.

I tested WMP10 a while ago when the beta first became available for public release. Since then, I have reverted back to WMP9 for stability's sake, but I'll let you know now that when I used WMP10, it recognised my PPC and removable media fine.
I'm not sure what minor fixes they have made to the beta releases since then, but please keep in mind that it is still in beta form and in no way reflects all the features of the final product. By using a beta, you will come to expect that there will be problems in it.

On the topic of Windows Media Player 10, I have unconfirmed reports that it will be released by Microsoft sometime this Thursday, alongside its iTunes-competing MSN Music service.

I guess my question was kind of answered by Jason Dunns post on DRM

I really hope that they have this working on the Thursday final release .. but I really doubt it ..... So on this new Microsoft MSN online music store you will be able to buy music that you won't be able to play on your on Pocket PC on its storage card ... very Broken scenario ... gee and I wonder why people download music free off the internet that you can use where you like ......

Works for me. I can see both of my storage cards in autosync. I haven't actually tried it yet...

I mentioned this in the Off-Topic forum as well, but if you are still using a beta version of WMP10, head over to the MS site and get yourself a copy of the final public release version.

I tested the new WMP10 (not the beta, it didn't work properly with this), and "syncing" (as they call it in there now, that's gonna confused some people) a DRM-equipped file between WMP10 and my SD card on my Axim.
Although for some reason, as soon as I did, MP3's were defaulting to WMP on the PPC...I wonder why that is. ;)

i dont use windows ATM, but when i did use it and wmp10, it was pretty unstable and incomplete(although usable as my main player, and i prefered it to itunes). the final release will most definetly support pocket pc's. microsoft isnt that stupid/assholish.
Edit: and about the mp3's defaulting. wmp 10 actually defaults to ripping stuff in mp3 instead of their own WMA. i thought that was pretty cool and unmonopolistic. i think MS has kinda learned its lesson, and will put out a good OS in the future. not to mention, they did make our beloved ppc's. i hope they/thirdparties dont screw them up, or ill have to use linux on my ppc too.

The funny thing is, when you first attempt a rip to MP3, WMP has popups telling you about all the "benefits" of WMA and why you should use WMA over MP3...and provides the option of switching to WMA or to stick with MP3. Tough choice. :p

Hi, I'm using the latest WMP 10, Active Stink and a HP iPAQ 2200 with both a CF and SD memory cards.
I connect to my PC using a Belkin Bluetooth dongle and to my laptop using built in Bluetoot.
I'm using Microsoft's SP2 Bluetooth drivers.
Synching works perfect, but when I try to move some music (DRM Protected and Not Protected) WMP10 doesn't find my pocket pc nor its Memory cards.
Do I have to connect via USB to make it work?
Bluetoot is a really funny word for some strange reason
