I'm converting music videos to PPC. Why is WMV 7 to 8 megs and DivX is 27 to 29 for the same video (using the appropiate profiles/settings)?

Even if the resolution is the same, the bit rate might not be - look a little deeper....

okay JD, u'r right (once again). i should known that.

wmv = 260 Kb/s
divx = 975 Kb/s

so if I bring my divx bitrate down to around 250 or 300, I'll see a 35 to 7 megs filesize?

Correct. And 250 kbps should be plenty for music videos (assuming they are 320x240.

250!!! if my e805 handles 975 Kb/s like a Kenyan at a marathon, why go so far down (besides filesize)?

Thats exactly the reason I do go that far down - file size. Until I have a PPC which is blessed with a hard drive ;)
