Last night my girl screamed on me because I always forget her appointments and schedules. She suggested I put her schedule and appointments in my PPC so I won't forget. That made me wonder; if I bought her her own Pocket PC, how can I set it up so that my schedules & appointments are on her PPC and her schedules & appointments are on my PPC while we are in two different cities?

Not sure if this is what you need, but, I have found that those appointments of my girlfriend that I need to be reminded of (not everything) I just make the appointment an all day event on my PPC. That way it does not conflict with my daily schedule.
Just my two cents.

I guess what I'm asking is there a feature or third party software that synchronizes our schedules? Like a way to view or download her schedule/calender. Obviously time conflicts won't matter because it's two schedules/calenders not one.

I don't think there's a way to sync someone else's calender with yours. But why do you need to remember her appointments anyway?
Anyway unless someone knows something I don't(which is entirely possible), you'd have to enter her appointments yourself or give her your PPC and let her enter them for you.

You're right now that I think about it. This is a PERSONAL digital assistant not an exchange server/client thingie or netscape calendar/collabra client.
Anything like that exists for PPC?

She has cancer and I have not been the best at keeping up with her doctor appointments. I was just hoping PPC would help me stay in sync with her since it's an organizing tool.

I am sorry to hear about your girlfriends health issues...
What I do is I manually put my girlfriends appointments and works schedules in my PPC as "Free"... I also assign her stuff under her own category... this way I can see if visually on the calendar if I don't filter her out.

Hm I wonder if you could get some 3rd party calender program and use that for her appointments, and Outlook for yours? It would still involve having to enter the appointments separately on the desktop or the PPC, I can't see how a file synced to a 3rd party program on her PPC could be imported to YOUR PPC directly; because you'd be using different profiles with activesync and all. It might be possible but it would be complicated and would depend on the program you chose....

Do you two both use Outlook on the PC? She could export just her appointments to a .pst, mail that file to you and you could import them. Do that once a week, or a month, to keep up to date. She could even apply a category to those she wants you to know about and filter for that when exporting.

Thanx people. I guess manually is the best way for now.
You mean the only thing PPC is built to share or exchange is friggin business cards?!?!?
Wouldn't MS Exchange Server come into play here? I know it has some kind of mobile/PPC support.
I kinda can't believe there's no real solution for me. This device is really really personal. Maybe they need to think about an business or family digital assistant. Where you see your co-workers' or family members' schedules and can exchange documents, photos, grocery lists, TPS reports, chores, etc. easily. Maybe even an academic digital assistant where teachers, students and parents can sync and exchange...... by gawd, I think I'm on to something. Don't still my idea people!!!

I'm a PPC newbie but isn't there a way to beam a calendar from one PPC to another?

Yes, you could use Exchange Server to solve the problem, as it would literally let you share a server-side calendar. Hosted Exchange Server solutions are available, like this one (www.mailstreet.com). It's a monthly subscription thing, though. :(

Go for it. :) Develop a solution on the Pocket PC, possibly using the .NET Compact Framework, and I'm sure it's a product that would have much use. :) Use the vCal standard (http://www.imc.org/pdi/) to make your life easer -- I'd think that vCal is supported on the Pocket PC somehow as it is, although I've never tried myself.

Can't beam when we are 325 miles apart.

I don't know real programming yet, only PHP. And I don't think I'll be able to do that with just PHP.
I'm going to look into that vCal thingie.
Or someone can simply develop a plug-in that 'view other calendars' for outlook/outlook pocket

What I do when my husband needs to see my appointments or vice versa, is we invite each other as an attendees and then assign a category to the appointment so we can filter it out if we need to. So every appointment I make, I invite him in the invite attendees, and he accepts the appointment, which automatically puts it on his calendar and I do the same. Hope that this is some kind of solution for you.
