Hey, I have an HP pocketPC, and I just purchased a Targus wireless keyboard. I have been looking for a program which can rotate the screen 90 degrees...but I've been unsuccessful so far.

So the question is: Does anyone know where I can find a screen rotation proggie, one that's free, if possible?

Thanks :)

There's a pocket pc application that I know of that is a freeware, it's called the ftxPBrowser and it can make your Pocket E full-screen as well as full-screen!

You can download it at:
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php
just do a search on that site will do.

ftxPBrowser is more of a browser than anything else. I think what Kavant is asking for is an application that can rotate the entire screen for use with all applications.

I assume you have WM2003 and not WM2003SE so you wouldn't have the built-in screen rotation abilities that come in WM2003SE. There's a program called Nyditot Virtual Display, and also another one called DotPocket. Both are compatible with WM2003, and allow for screen rotation. The only thing is some features of WM2003 and some older applications do not conform to a landscape view so you may get chopping off of the bottom 80 pixels when viewing at 320x240 - landscape.

Yeah, thank you. I d/l'ed dotpocket or whatever, and it seems to work alright for my keyboard. I wish it didn't have a 30-day expiration date, however, but I suppose I can live with it for the time being...if anyone does know of a simple program that can rotate the screen WITHOUT making me pay 15 dollars to do it, that would be nice :)

Anyway, thanks to both of you for the help, and I'll be sure to check back at this site if I need any other assistance.

What model of HP pocketpc do you have?

I did a quick search!

There is a bit of freeware called GoLandscape (http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/golandscapeipaqh545055.shtml)

Don't blame me if it does'nt work or causes you to hardreset but there is also Rotate330 (http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/rotate330.shtml) written for the Tosh E330 but if you machine uses the MediaQ processor then it might work. Anyone else know?

I tried a free download from one of the keyboard manufacturers that hacked the screen to display landscape. It, and all the other options available, required a soft reset every time you wanted to go to landscape or back to portrait view. It was too much trouble for me because I didn't want full-time landscape.

it would be nice to find one that doesn't need a soft reset...maybe the people who made ftxPBrowser will make a version that will rotate it to landscape....That is all I am personally looking for lanscape mode for is for the internet (although excel in landscape would be nice.)

This is exactly what I have been lookig for as well - unfortunately neither seem to work with my Toshiba e755.
Nyidot and dot pocket are just too much more than what I need. I would really somthing small and simple like this. Back in the days of Pocket PC 2000 there seemed to be a heap of small programmes that would rotate the screen but none of them seem to have been updated to run on WM2003. Oh well I guess I will have to keep looking...

There is no known program that rotates a pre WM2003SE device to landscape without a reset. I don't expect it to happen anymore. Lots of sly programmers were trying, and it just didn't seem possible. Now that the rotation is built into the OS, it is not likely that anyone will invest much time into further attempting it on older devices.

Yes I know it is not possible without a reset, but there were some very simple programs for PPC 2000/2002 that just rotated the screen - with reset - and nothing else. Quick easy and no messing around. I find Nyidot just too big, buggy and complicated for what I need. Somthing like the software discussed HERE (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=34432&highlight=) is what I mean.
