Featuring 3d graphs, charts, icons and an amazingly simple to use interface, Mastersoft Money was first with the features that you can now find in competing products."<br /><br />I've never been very good at managing my money; in fact, I still have trouble remembering the difference between a debit and a credit. But, if you like to keep careful track of your personal finances, this is a product worth looking at. It is loaded with features, and can exchange data with both Microsoft Money and Quicken. This also means that you should be able to easily download your financial information from your bank's Internet banking Web site to this application.<br /><br />But don't take my word for it. Go grab the demo or buy the full version for only $29.95 at the <a href="http://www.handango.com/brainstore/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=311&productId=17273">Handango site</a>. And when you're done, you can help me figure out my debit/credit confusion!

I had version 4.14. Was to slow. Really slow. In fact, so slow that it was useless. Now i use webis money, wich is not full featured, but at least, pretty fast.

I had version 4.14. ..
If you ever get the chance to try out this newer version, it would be great to know how it compares with the one you used.

This is the one program that forced me into a hard reset as it was so unstable when they gave it away free. The cost to me was too high and I will never go back....

That's the exact problem I had with it. It just dragged...

Personally, I think the best financial application on the Pocket PC is Cash Organizer. It has the ability to sync with Microsoft Money (which it does flawlessly), it is fast, and is constantly being improved. It has more features than I could ever really need, and does not require that bullcrap QIF import to syncrhronize data. I just do not see the value of a financial application on the Pocket PC that does not sync with the desktop. To me, that is utterly useless.

Hi there,

You really need 624 Mhz as stated in the help and also in the product description. .NET is fairly new and a bit sluggish on older machines. It also required hard resets on some older machines but again as a Microsoft issue we had no control over this. Anyhow it flies on my new 624 Mhz PPC. As for comparing it with other faster titles ... just try importing and exporting with them - they're faster but the results are completely wrong - something which is unacceptable when doing your finances IMHO.

All the best,

Dom

it seems to me that it does not have anyway to download the information (sync) with your bank account so basically you need a desktop program (quicken) to do that.

am I wrong?

what program in my PPC I can use so I don't have to use my desktop pc any more for this task? Is there anyone that allows you to do the same thing you do with Quicken or Money in your PC but in your PPC?

To have a mirror. I would like to have in my PPC a mirrow of what I have in my PC without having to sync both. That means, I would like to see a ppc software working in the same way than the PC version does, going to banks and sync from my bank accounts.

Hi there,
This version has wireless features since we feel that is the way the market is headed and love the idea of including wireless financial data. If you have a wireless Pocket PC you can get your bank data straight to your device. However, it is not designed to be linked to a desktop as such but is more of a standalone product to help you ditch the desktop. Once .NET speeds up on the Pocket PC we'll bring back desktop Mastersoft Money which will be absolutely identical except for screen resolution etc. Certainly if you need desktop synching of your desktop money app then this might not be best for you.

I had version 4.14. Was to slow. Really slow. In fact, so slow that it was useless. Now i use webis money, wich is not full featured, but at least, pretty fast.
I've used this program since it was called PoQuick, and I've also tried WebIs Money. I really wanted to like Money (the UI is very nice), and even tried it for a few weeks, but I eventually had to switch back. Why? It took me what seemed like AGES to enter all the necessary data for a transaction.

One of the things I like best about this program is that it remembers what I've entered in the past, and pre-fills fields for me. This vastly reduces the amount of time it takes to enter data. For example, I go to Starbucks quite often, and I always order a Venti Mocha Frappucino. It costs $3.85. All I have to do to enter this in Mastersoft Money is to select "Starbucks" from the Payee drop down, and it automatically pre-fills the Category and the dollar amount of the transaction. All I have to do then is tap the submit button. It takes four taps and five seconds to do.

Any other program I've tried (and I've tried most of them) makes this a manual process, and that's why I've always gone back to this program. I don't mind the startup time at all (it only takes a few seconds), and it's never crashed my device or made it unstable. I also disagree with the contention that it's slow - it runs just fine on my 4150 and did the same on my Axim X5. Honestly, this is one of the few applications that I can't live without.

Pat L.,

It's not really clear which "Money" you're talking about that does what (since they're both named the same).

Maybe it's also because English is not my native tongue and/or coz I'm tired (3AM here) and/or coz I'm reinstalling all my apps on my warranty exchanged Axim X5 (newer has WM03, old had 2k2).

Could you please edit a little bit your post to make it clearer?

Thanks :)

I think it's pretty clear. He wanted to like WebIS Money, but ended up switching back to Mastersoft. The second and third paras refer to Mastersoft.

I've used Mastersoft Money on my Ipaq 4150. I have over 10000 transactions. It takes ages!!!! and is so slow and crashes!!! i have also tried Cash Organiser and it too is slow.

I've am now using WebIS Money. I feel it is much better for what I want to do and its faster. I have already catergoried all my transactions in MS Money so they transferred perfectly.

Now all I have to do is keep up to date with any new imports.
The downside with WebIS Money is the reporting is not very detailed.

That's quite a few. Did you try optimizing the database?

Wow 10,000 records is a lot. Afraid you'll have to wait for a better version of Microsoft .NET before it will race through those. V5 will handle 10,000 no problem but like I said you really need a 624 MHz machine. V4 was limited to 7000 records but there is no limit in V5. Pretty pointless judging V5 on V4 but that's just my opinion.
Come on Microsoft give us the .NET performance you promised !

I gotta agree. .Net is resource hungry. It is the best environment for RAD on the PPC though...

I totally agree. it is absolutely ludicrous that there aren't more financial programs that sync with Microsoft money and quicken. do you stop using the desktop version of outlook just because there is a calendar, email, contacts, and task list on your pocket pc? NO, because that would be stupid. the same would go for pocket word and excel

Has anybody tried connect pocket internet explorer to a secure bank website without some jury rigging? it doesn't often work. the pocket pc was created to be a supplement to the desktop pc, NOT a replacement, and why any body would think that you would want to keep the only copy of all your financial data on a device that could possibly be lost or stolen much easier that a desktop pc?

as for your desktop version of the mastersoft money, why reinvent the wheel? i already have at least 7 years of financial data in Microsoft money, and i am not going to waste time on double entry and put all that in your program also just so i can sync to my pocket pc.

i really have a hard time believing that many other people would want to do that either, and that more people aren't upset about the lack of syncing ability for pocket pc financial programs
