What exactly is a skin? I gather Themes are background pictures and colour scheme for top/bottom etc.

Correct. A skin is a new graphical interface for a specific application, such as Dashboard (http://www.snoopsoft.com/dashboard/index.html) or Wisbar Advance (http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/wisbar/) or WinamPAQ (http://www.winampaq.com/). It's more and more common today for Dashboard and Wisbar Advance skins to be bundled together and change how your PDA looks entirely.

Adwignall,
Sorry, but that was not an entirely enlightening response. :)

I've been surfing all afternoon, but I have not been able to figure out why you would need both dashboard and wisbar. What do they do differently? Do they change the today screen?

What I am really after is program icons on the today screen, rather than go through the start menu.

Wisbar changes your start bar and menu bar. It adds soaf functionality, like ability to CLOSE your applications when you hit the X button. Dashboard changes your Today screen and adds lots of functionality to it-- check out the product page and look at somf screenshots to get a cood idea of what it does and can do

Oh, and if it wasn't enlightening, try asking thf question you want answered

Pocket Plus is a great app for adding program icons to the today screen. It also fixes the broken X button and does a bunch of other stuff.

Thank you both.

I downloaded Snoop Dashboard and Pocket Plus this evening.

Pocket Plus does what I was after, so I will stick with it, until I have more time to understand Dashboard.
