If you're impatient, like me, jump exactly to the 4-minute mark, where the user starts playing with the thumbboard as well as sliding it in-and-out where you can start seeing some of the nifty hardware aspects of the unit.

Any word as to which cell company will be carrying it?

Looks like the screen has the iPaq yellow tinge to it (could be a video issue I suppose).

I own an XDA II, just changed it for a P900, I would buy this device only if this device can get a better Internet browser (Like Palm Tungsten 3 or SonyEricsson P900), Better Excel and Word and may be capable of opening protected files (Like Documents to go for Palm), can play MP3 Ringtones, have a reliable alarm clock (for waking up each mornig), that way it may be your really one and only device!!!

I'd love one - but the chances of it coming to Canada anytime soon are somewhere between slim and none.

Just view the source and get the URL of the video, if you wish to play it on your PPC.

not to sound to much like phonescoop but a Verizon director said, "I expect Sprint will have it first, like the Treo 600." :? yaaaa ok sure..... We all know how those things go. I heard this at a conference where Microsoft was also a presenter and they showed and talked about the MDA III. Then Verizon got up and said regarding the MDA, "Well they (Microsoft) can talk a little more than I can right now." WEll maybe a year from now we might see it. :|

I love their music :) Felt like I was in a Lord of the Rings movie :) The video wasn't however very informative, and was shot from too far away. The thumb board looked a bit awkward to use, and the sliding mechanism a bit stiff. Definitely not my next device.

How well the p900 performs vs. the xda? My next toy will be an XDA III or P910... not sure yet...

I like the P900 more than the XDA II, It is a better mobile phone, You can browse almost any webpage (also Java), It has a better display, you can use any MP3 as a ringtone, it sounds better than the XDA II, if you need more a PDA than a phone, the XDA II is better, but if you use your mobile phone alot (and need it to be dependable, you do not need to reset the P900 as many of the PpcketPC's), and you need a PDA with medium functions (mail, sms, worldmatepro, splashID, view excel and word files, calendar, contacts, tasks, notes, mms, very nice Internet Browsing) the P900 is the device you want, I don´t use games on my PDA's (I don´t have that much free time), I do not use it as an ebook reader (better buy the traditional book). saludos desde México!!!

Do you need to pay a monthly fee for using netfront?

I brought this up the other day, apparently they are made by the same manufacturer of the ipaqs with the same problem (htc).

What is this device people keep referring to as the P900?

And as far as all the nit picking, if you all have the perfect device why are you even wasting your time checking in on this forum?

Seems like a lot of critics seem to be hawking around with nothing better to do than rain on other people's hopes of improved devices.

I'm a Sprint PCS customer and am locked in for 2 years, so regardless of the shortcomings, this may be the only decent PPCPE I get a chance to own.

It's a Sony Ericsson (http://www.sonyericsson.com) device, running the Symbian OS. You can find a review on Mobile-Review.com (http://www.mobile-review.com/review/sonyericsson-p900-en.shtml).

Is the P900 really a good PDA? I'm developing some stuff for a company for it and am curious :).

If you need a more reliable phone, the P900 should be your choice, if you need to input more data on the road and use more advanced functions, think on a Pocketpc.
In fact, I love all gadgets, I am a technology lover, I have used more than 30 different PDA´s in my life (Scince the Radio Shack TRS-80 in the early 80´s), I am a PocketPC Lover, but in the last years I have noticed a slowdown in the improvement, by this days we should be having PocketPCs with 1GB on Ram, better hardware (like some Sony Clies), more accesories compatibility, lighter, and with more improvements on the OS.

Thanks Saljamex, i think that the p900 has too little memory, but i think you´ll be excited about the P910:

It´s the first non PPC device to make me take a look at it. 64 mb is decent, integrated keyboard, and the symbian OS is evolving pretty fast. I hope billy gets it...

Except... still no support for WiFi, and Memory Stick Duo Pro.

But do you really need WiFi in a device which basicly is a phone? That is like putting a SIM card in your network router ;)

I guess I'll know in a week when the P900 arrives. :)

It would be nice -- the P900/P910 is not just a phone, but rather a PDA phone with a touch screen. For example, when I'm at work, I'd like to sync my information over a higher-speed connection than GPRS. The fact that an increasing number of Pocket PC Phones are scheduled to come out with integrated WiFi seems to reinforce this idea.

I agree... if SE adds WiFi (someday) and SD (i don´t think so) it would be a great option compared to the iPAQ 6300 or XFA III ... the one hand interface is a great idea. But even with no wi fi, i think i´ll give it a try.

I've been playing around with the emulator and it is different from wm2003. I'm not sure I'd buy one if I had to pay for it myself (800€ seems kind of expensive).

How is the Opera browser? Better than WM2003SE Pie?
