I just got a viewsonic v36 and i am having some problems.

Everytime i download a new application is says
"there is no application assciated with 'filename'. Run th application first, then open this file from within the application." What does this mean? I tried downloading a unzipper program but it wont open that either... Help...

If its a zipped program most times i have to unzip it on the desktop then run the intsallation program from the desktop and it will install on my ppc through active sync. Hope it helps

And if it is a cab file, you need to copy it over to your PDA and install it from there. It'd be helpful if you specify the type of files extension, and where you downloaded them.

It's a Windows CE exe file, which means it will not work on your desktop. Just copy it over to your device, perhaps in its own folder, and run it from there and you will be good to go.

Can you list the specific applications you're talking about? If you happen to be installing one that's a bit quirky, we can walk you through the steps more effectively.

Usually, installation is very simple:

Connect your Pocket PC to the desktop and make sure Activesync is running.
Open/run the installation version of the application
Screen prompts should take you through the rest of the process, asking where you want to install the program.

Could it be that you're simply copying the program to your device and not actually installing the application?

ASP stands for Active Server Page, and it's a file format used exclusively for web pages running on IIS. What are you trying to download/install? Sounds like you downloaded a web page instead of a real file.
