Hello

I have a iPAQ 5550. I go to:

http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/HandheldiPAQ/us/locate/105_5643.html

to get the latest updates to software and firmware.

The question I have is, which ones do I apply? I have made the assumption that any software/driver/firmware update released before the latest ROM update is in the ROM update???

And then there is the

--- HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5400/h5500 Series WLAN Driver Update (3.2.4.133) 19 May 04

--- HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5500 Series Wireless LAN Driver Update with WPA Support (4.3.5.414) 19 May 04

I have made the assumption that the updates are the same, except that one has WPA support. Why would you not install WPA support, surely it does not disable any other functionality...

Basically, there are a whole lot of updates there, but there is no user roadmap telling the user what should be applied when. I see there are some stuff there like LEAP that I am not interested in, and just ignore them, but need info on the rest.

Anyone know if there is a way to tell if the update is in the latest ROM? Anyone else think there is a lack of info there?

Thanks
David

According to the documentation for the latter update, the prequisites are the following updates:
HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5500 Series ROM Update Version 1.10 (SoftPaq SP27674)
HP iPAQ Pocket PC h5500 Series Wireless LAN Firmware Update with WPA Support version 1.103.5.164 (SoftPaq SP27605)
So, you should install these on your iPaq before installing the latter update (the WPA support thing-of-a-jig)... ;)

Yes, I read that, and have done it. I need WPA as a specific. What I was aksing for, was ho do I knw what to apply to get the iPAQ up to date?

There are items on that page with a release date before the POM update. Does the ROM update include these? DOes the ROM update include only software updates, or firmware updates also.

WHy is there a firmware and software update with and without WPA? What is wrong with installing WPA even if you do not use it? Is it an enormous update taking up too much space? Is there some bad side effects?

Basically, a roadmap of options, and a this includes this, and this before or after this, and what the different options mean to the user, including resource utilisation. And not split up on separate pages, but all in one page.

Thanks
David
