Hi

I've recently bought a Dlink DI-624+ wireless router for my home LAN. It works well except that my Socket SDIO card doesn't work with it. I've also tried a Sandisk card but it didn't work either. Not surprising as i beleive that these two cards are the same device with a different badge.

Although I have an iPAQ 2210 I'd prefer an SD card as I have a 1 GB CF card that I'd like to leave in all the time.

Are there any SDIO cards that I can look at?

TIA

Hi Anthony,

Can you please give us details as to why your Socket or Sandisk SDIO Wi-Fi cards do not work with the device? The DI-624+ supports 802.11g and it should be backward compatible with 802.11b, so there is no reason why they shouldn't work.

Unfortunately I don't have any good reasons. I have both Socket and Sandisk cards here and neither can connect.

I went to the Socket web site and looked at their support forums and it told me that there were issues with connection to d-link routers. Based on the way the Socket response was framed, I suspect the problem is theirs.

From the Socket online support

D-Link Routers with SDIO Cards
We have had problems with certain D-Link routers and our SDIO Card. In most cases, firmware updates will fix the problem. Please visit the D-Link website and update your firmware, this should solve your problem.

Linksys Routers with SDIO Cards
We have had problems with certain Linksys routers and our SDIO Card. In most cases, firmware updates will fix the problem. Please visit the Linksys website and update your firmware, this should solve your problem.

Other Routers and all Cards
If you don't have a router identified above, please ensure that you visit your router manufacturer's support/driver/product page(s) and update your firmware. Firmware updates ensure better overall router performance and compatibility.

Seeing that the Socket and Sandisk cards are the same device I suspect that I'll have to re-organise things and look at a CF solution unless i can find a suitable SDIO solution.

My router is new and runs the latest avaialble firmware. I have tried the orignal and latest card drivers for my Pocket PC. I've switched the router to "compatiblility mode" so that it allows "b" devices to connect and I've also disabled the D-Link enhanced mode for 108 mbps connections.

I am able to connect my iBook to the router without any hassles.

Thanks for looking at this.

Are you sure? Just because it's new, doesn't neccessarily mean it has the latest firmware in it. Did you check the DLink site? I only ask because I too have a hard time believing this isn't going to work. You aren't trying this with encryption turned on to start are you?

Hi

I checked everything. The firmware on my device is the latest as were the drivers for my network card.

I've tried everything and can't get it to work.

I have a Dlink DI-624 wireless router at my office, an Ipaq 3950 with WM2003 and a Socket SDIO WiFi card. I have also tested the card with one of my co-worker's Samsung i700 (PPC 2002). It's working great.

The network configuration: 40/64-bit WEP and Network Authentication (Shared mode).

By the way, at the begining it didn't work, after 4 hours of work (including hard-reseting the device and reinstalling the drivers) I realised I didn't check the Network Authentication.

Well, I've given up on the Socket SDIO (eBay) and am using a Sandisk CF Connect Plus and it works fine.

Incidentally, DLink released a firmware upgrade for my router this week but it made no difference.

I also coouldn't connect my iPaq 2215 with a Socket SD WiFI card. I have a Netgear MR14 wireless router. Then at work, they installed WiFi. I got an account and connected immediately. A few days later I tried WiFI'ing at home and it worked. I changed absolutely nothing, not a setting anywhere. Now I can connect everytime at home and work.
