How to remove alarm icons?

I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to remove the alarm icons (gold bells) that appear in the system tray of my PPC every time I have a meeting alarm. I would like to set it so that it NEVER shows the alarm icons, because they quickly fill up the system tray. Does anybody know the trick?
