I am looking for a simple list program (for shopping lists, travel lists, etc.) I used to have a Palm and I had a simple, but awesome one called HandyShopper. However, he hasn't made a Pocket PC version yet (he is working on it though :) ) Does anyone know of any simple ones? I have tried one, but it wasn't very good. Thanks

If you want a multi-level list program, check out SuperList (http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_sl_overview.html) by ScaryBear Software. I use this program for my travel and business checklists and it works great.

If you haven't tried it yet, I would consider a trial of Ilium's ListPro (http://www.iliumsoft.com/site/lp/listpro.htm). It's simple to use, but can be very powerful with customizations.

That actually is the one I used...It was too complicated (but maybe I am just impatient.)...do you know of any other ones? I am just looking to make different lists with checkboxes.....

I thought the same thing when I first got it, now I love it. Give it a go!

I think the strength of ListPro is greatest if you have lists that you use over and over again, like a checklist of things to pack for trips. Whatever you use, though, I highly recommend getting something that synchs with a desktop or has a desktop version. That way, you don't necessarily have to grab your Pocket PC to quickly update your lists while sitting at the computer.

I'm adding my vote for SuperList, it's really easy to use, and even looks better than ListPro. When I first got my PPC I heard all about how great ListPro was, and bought the full desktop/pocket pc version, and am sorry I did. It was just too complicated for what I wanted, a simple hierarchical list program. So I haven't touched ListPro in two years now, just wished I had found Superlist sooner and hadn't spent so much on the other program. Oh well, live and learn!
Here's how superlist looks if you change the background (another neat feature)!

Well, keep in mind that SuperList does not have a desktop counterpart. Nor does it have the ability to attach notes to particular entries. (edit: It DOES have this ability. Thx ppcinfo for the clarification!) If those things aren't important, then SuperList will do a fine job.
Except for the skinning eye-candy of SuperList, Tombo can fill in nicely as well. It is freeware and has a desktop version. Turn on file syncing in AS, and Tombo outlines can be automatically synchronized!
I use Tombo for organizing free-form notes, and ListPro for structured data. LP has the ability to created customized pull-down lists which make data entry very easy for those fields that have some common values.

I'm going to put my $0.02 in for ListPro. I used HandyShopper on my palm and the one thing that I had to have was a way to check a box and have it disappear on my shopping list. I also like the way I can add the same item to multiple stores. Once you figure out that the flag and the check are filters, it makes keeping track of what you have left to do easy. You can also import all of your HandyShopper data (export to .csv and import) without re-typing.

I decided to purchase TreNotes because it had both a PC and a PPC version as do some others, but I found this app to be simpler to use for my purposes.
It's available at http://www.fannsoftware.com/TreNotes.html

I got Checklist by Handmark when it was listed as a Pocketgear free software of the day sometime ago. It is a good quick and effective list program, and you can't go wrong for the price.

Is there anyway to make a list on my computer with Superlist and then sync it to my Pocket PC?

ToddJ,
Unlike several of the list programs mentioned in this thread, SuperList does not have a desktop PC version. It can import and export from/to text files though, so you could possibly create a list in a text file on your PC and then import it into SuperList, but that would probably be inconvenient if you wanted to constantly update both lists, as I would imagine you would have to reimport the file each time! :D But like I said, I liked SuperList because it wasn't too complicated, as I don't really need that functionality right now :D But if you do, the other programs might be a better choice.
The bitmap is from one of my PPX skins that I've adapted for use in SuperList, it's my MacOS skin on my website. I have several bitmaps I use in SuperList, PM me if you want me to send them to you (so as to not get this thread too off-topic  )!

Another recommendation for Listpro. If you buy this program (wait for the discount sales they occasionally have) then I would strongly recommend the Pro-version which includes the desktop component.
It is extremely easy to create lists (after getting the hang of it) on the desktop but rather finicky on PocketPC, largely due to the smaller screens and lack of keyboard shortcuts. However, for viewing and checking off lists, this program is excellent!
You can also download pre-made templates from the Listpro site as well as online software vendors.

SuperList: Nor does it have the ability to attach notes to particular entries.
Yes it does. I've attached several text notes in my business travel list. Just tap on the notes icon on the menubar.

Thanks for the clarification. I either overlooked that feature when I was initially shopping for a list program, or they added it afterwards. In any case, that's a handy feature to have.
