With the high demand for this pre-production unit (it was the only one in Australia at the time of writing) we only could have it for a few days. Not long enough to do our customary in-depth review, complete with benchmarking and comparisons. That’s why this review is in 2 installments: today the First Impressions and upon general availability here we’ll do the number crunching."</i><br /><br />Given the small pictures, it's clearly a first take, but it's still worth a look if you're drooling over this unit.

Good review, but yes the images are too small.
I made my mind anyway, and saving for ipaq 4700. No camera! no big deal! to me :)

Are they gonna make a version with WiFi? Making a high-end PPC these days without WiFi is like selling a Lexus without leather and GPS navigation.

Yes, a unit with both BT and WiFi AND 128 Mb RAM will be released by the end of august\early september. Visit the www.pocketmatrix.com forum when you want to know more about it.

briliant! since HP gave up on us regarding updates i say the ASUS has a high probability of being my next upgrade and a step away from HP.

How about a version sans camera?

How about a version sans camera?
Agreed. What's the point of a worthless camera to add cost and weight.

Also to add, many places are banning camera phones and any small devices with camera built-in. PDA's with cameras would surely be banned as well.

You may know that treo 600 without camera has the same size and COST as treo 600 with camera.
rz3100 has no camera and has the same size as rz3415 and rz3715 too.
Those companies may consider cameraless version, but they have no interests to spend the time or money to design a new form factor for it.

The WiFi version will be built-in, leaving the CF slot free.
I'll post Part II of our review with larger pics (didn't want our server to go into meltdown mode with folks downloading a huge file...)
Cheers,
Martin

Nice one.
Perhaps it is just me, but today I find it a hard decision to find the replacement of my axim X5. So many cool items to choose from. So many different categories to choose from.
Motorola MPX
Motorola mpx220
XDA3
Asus 730 + Motorola V3
ipaq 4700 + Motorola V3
hmpf. back in the old day, the options were very simple :
Dell axim X5
Toshiba e740
ipaq 5450
Decision making was very easy back then.
