<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.greenlightwireless.net/' target='_blank'>http://www.greenlightwireless.net/</a><br /><br /></div>A while back I tried out a new mobile device portal service from Greenlight Wireless called <a href="http://www.greenlightwireless.net/">Skweezer</a> and liked it a lot, mostly because it did a very good job of formatting Web sites for the Pocket PC screen. Now, Skweezer's been updated with some new enhancements.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/adrian/skweezer.jpg" /><br /><br />"Skweezer is a service that makes browsing the Web on a PDA or smartphone faster, easier, and better. Skweezer 2.0 optimizes Web content for your wireless-ready handset, reformatting Web pages so that they're easier to view, load faster, and have a smaller file-size."<br /><br />Skweezer's main features are:<br /><br />• Works on many types of mobile devices<br />• Heightened security capabilities<br />• Customizable<br />• Integrated POP3 e-mail<br /><br />You can try Skweezer out for 30 days free of charge. Or, you can buy a 12-month subscription for $14.99. If you do a lot of Web surfing with your Pocket PC, I'd recommend giving the free demo a try.<br /><br />OR........<br /><br />You can take your shot at winning a FREE 12-month subscription! Greenlight Wireless is going to give two lucky Thoughts readers a free 1-year subscription to Skweezer. If you'd like a shot at winning this subscription, all you have to do is post a response to this thread. In your response, include at least one <i><b>unique</b></i> reason why you think it would be cool to have Skweezer on your Pocket PC.<br /><br />As always, there are a few extra rules:<br /><br />• You may enter only once.<br />• You may only enter a reason that nobody else has posted.<br />• You must enter before 1:00am EST August 3, 2004.<br />• You may not question the selection of the winners.<br />• You may not whine.<br /><br />Good luck!

I work for a Not For Profit and must visit a number of companies and individuals to help them understand our educational, conservation and volunteer mission. I also visit senior citizens and others in order to educate them as to our mission and accomplishments.

I present information with PowePoint Presentations via my PocketPC and its presentation software.

We have developed an attractive website that helps with this education and also have a movie about the Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area.

I would love to be able to use this program to display my Not For Profit Site WWW.FriendsofLBL.org in an enhanced, more easily read manner. This will allow presentation of the purpose of my group during these visits to be more readily understood.

I hope to become a winner of the contest. Thank you for offering such a contest benefit for PocketPC owners.

I'd use it to provide effective online support from my Pocket PC through the online forums pages of sites like  my own

Also it would be great to be able to read www.geekzone.co.nz on my Pocket PC with the page nicely formatted.... :D

I would be able to access many sites that are too complex to bother accessing with my Pocket PC using just the Internet Explorer provided with Win CE.

Accessing more sites related to my work would be a lot easier to do while on the road.

Looks like a great program!

I am currently stationed overseas and my PPC is the only computer I have easy access to. This will make my internet, and emails with the family a lot easier until I return to the States.

As a minister, I am often called upon to share a few words for various special occasions, sometimes with little notice. To be able to keep things interesting, I will sometime use my pda to wirelessly (sometimes before I get out of the car) browse over to my favorite good, clean jokes and stories site to find a joke or illustration that fits the occasion. But please don't tell anyone in my parish, they all just presume I'm clever.

LOL! I know a lot more ministers are using Pocket PCs to help with their work (I'm sure you know all about Dale Coffing). I use Pocket Bible a lot, but I still get some strange looks when I use during the sermon; everybody assumes I'm playing games!

Oh you guys! this program is awesome! I just started the trial and it's great. Amazon and ebay work great! I can check out my my.yahoo page without having to use the mobile version. Very fast lookups too! And once your where you want to be, every link from there is formatted by skweezer too! Very cool!

Old method: tap, tap, tap, wait, wait, wait... website snails its way in...

New method: run through my house [using wifi] yelling, "Skweezer, Skweezer!" ...and my eTrade account website will be waiting for me instead of the other way around.

If I'm browsing through my photo gallery, I'll be skwozen, ergo, looking thinner.

Must have this :)

Darn,

There went my idea

So, I'd use it to keep me company while watching the "sliding blue bar" during those late night server installs.

I need Skeezer because HP won't upgrade my iPAQ h5550 to WM2003 SE :( so no update to Pocket IE.

To save money. I'd use it to replace my annual subscription to ThunderHawk, which currently cost me $50/year. Also, ThunderHawk doesn't support VGA mode and I'm planning on getting a hx4705 so this software would be much better for VGA browsing.

I'd use it to keep up on my field reports online when I travel light for business, ok you got me, mostly to get my regular fix from www.homestarrunner.com without having to scroll around to find the buttons.

Specifically to view the Thoughts Media (http://www.thoughtsmedia.com) site.

Note to thoughtsmedia, please make a mobile version. All three sites updated and packed into one, that would be sweet! I would use it to browse the web of course, from any of my three different screen sized devices while rocking our 2 month old to sleep.

Each ThoughtsMedia site has a mobile version already, available to subscribers (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/subscribe.php). I personally subscribe to PocketPCThoughts (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com)and DigitalMediaThoughts (http://www.digitalmediathoughts.com)and being able to view the forums on my iPAQ, properly formatted is sweet!

Every morning our consulting group posts links to all the political headlines of 6 local daily papers and selected national ones. It's part of our daily email newsletter (http://www.utahpolicy.com/). I'm the editor and I have the headlines page (http://www.utahpolicy.com/pages/newsreports.htm) set as my PIE home page. That way I can browse the articles and keep up on what we're posting.

Unfortunately, when I click on a headline and bring up an article, it's seldom in a format I can read easily. Sometimes I can find a print version that will work in PIE, but not always, and that adds a step. Also, many articles are slow to load.

With Skweezer I could do my job as editor much better.

I would love the one year free license for all reasons stated so far but also so that I can get to see what Skeweezer can do for me without signing up for the trial... I took one look at the sign-up screen and gave up once I saw the amount of personal information they want to receive before "granting" the trial period... So gracious of them. I'd like to keep my dna profile to myself thank you! :-)

Four reasons:

(1) Save my eyesight, the tiny tiny fonts in thunderhawk hurt my eyes.
(2) It will let me stay down the pub longer. The pub has free wifi but how many sites can you browse and actually read with the standard browser.
(3) I could also stay in bed longer in the morning, no need to leap out of bed to check my favorite sites.
(4) I might actually use my Bluetooth iPaq/Sony T-mobile wireless access; the current connection isn't exactly what one would call stellar.

Great idea! Be sure to take Skweezer out for a test drive soon (the first 30 days are free). I think you'll see that Thunderhawk and Skweezer are pretty different, but Skweezer does what it does very well.
