Can anyone help?
I have loaded tomtom successfully and connected the GPS receiver. When completing the set up via the wizard, an error message appears: Cannot open Com1, Port does not exist'
If I then change the com port to com2, the software seems to accept it but there appears to be no communication between the PDA and the receiver. The LED on the receiver flashes so it has power at least.

I would advise going to Pocket GPS (http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/) and either trying the TomTom-specific forum (http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=6&sid=2c9ee4494e69bb2fe46619dd761fd79f) or the forum for your GPS hardware, they cover most manufacturers.
You will get a quick and friendly response there. Serious GPS geeks!

IR normally allocates COM port 1.
Try this: Disable IR reception under Settings-->Connections-->Beam
In the box that says "Receive all incoming beams", un-tick it.
Soft-reset and try again.

Thanks guys,
I tried un-ticking the 'receive all beams' setting but it made no difference. COM1 still does not appear in the GPS pull down.
Maybe I'll need to re-load the software.
In the meantime, I'll try the tomtom forums

What are you using for a GPS system?
Try http://www.visualgps.net/VisualGPSce/default.htm this to check the GPS to PPC Connection as well.

Does it support Windows Mobile 2003? Only support for 2002 is indicated...looks cool though...

Works fine with my 2215 & my haicom gps.

On the receive side, I'm using a TomTom branded unit. Not sure what make it is, it was bundled with TT3.
Now tried it is a different car in case the widscreen was heat reflecting but still no joy. I'm leaning towards a hardware fault but I'll try carphead's download first.

I'm guessing from the Fact it was bundled with a TT3 it's a Bluetooth unit.
Did it pair sucessfully? If it did try browsing the device via the Bluetooth manager and then connect to the serial port.
On my 2215 the Bluetooth serial port is Com 8. It will tell you in the Bluetooth manager what your serial ports are.

Sorry Carphead, it was a wired GPS receiver bundled with TT3

Sorry. Don't know anything about the Wired version. Is it pin compatible with the Toshiba?
Either way Good Luck :)
