hello all, i want to purchase the new i mate, but don't know if it fit my needs, so ur help will b so greatfull.

1-i want to know if i can install on it application that need pocket pc 2002?

2-can i install on it the microsoft windows ce, in order to install applications that need windows ce?

3-finally what i expect from the imate is that it can handle any sort of my graphic and cad works, so the imate as it, can support or have any applications for graphics, or cadtools, cad viewer......and by the way is there a acrobat reader for i mate?

Most Pocket PC 2002 applications work just fine in WM2003, which is what the i-Mate runs. The ones that might have trouble are usually those that patch into the system at a low-level.

No, you can't "install" CE. That said, if you can find an ARM build of a Windows CE application, it may work -- I'd peg the chances at 60% or so. The primary problem is that most Windows CE applications are designed for 640x240 or 640x480 resolution, and they often look very bad on a Pocket PC.

Adobe distributes a free Acrobat Reader for Pocket PCs. It's a little slow, but it works fine. As for graphic and illustration work, as long as you find a program that supports that format (or if you're willing to convert it to PDF or RepliGo (www.cerience.com)), you'd be fine.
