I have a Samsung VM-A680 Sprint PCS Phone with vision, and a Dell Axim X30. I know that I can buy a cable that will attach the 2, but my question is, how easy is it to connect to the internet this way? Also, Would I have to pay for any other service from sprint?

The reason Sprint stop selling the cables was because they did not want to encorage the data useage. I have a cable for my sanyo 8100 and it works great. I only wish Sprint had better BT phone(s) to work with so we could cut the cord.

Yes, it's very easy. I use to do it on my Palm and old Samsung PCS phone. I was only getting 14.4 kbps, cuz i didn't have vision. i wanna get cable for my toshiba e805 and samsung vga100 (a620) PCS phone, but i only know one place to get it and it's pricey ($79.99/SupplyNet)
if u getting SupplyNet's cable (www.supplynetwireless.com) they give u CD with helpful guides for setting up connections with PDA and cell services. they actually have that info/guides on their site too (somewhere)
No, u don't have to pay for another service since it uses Vision. And of course u don't take away from minutes
only thing that sucks is cable is bothersome.
BTW, where are u getting that cable from (if it's not from SupplyNet)???

Yeah, I wish that I had a bluetooth phone, that would be great to eleminate the cable. But since I don't, I was planning on buying the cable from SupplyNet because that is the only place that I have been able to find that sells them. Thanks for the replys. :D

i have a dell axim and a samsung n400 phone on the sprint network. I can jump on the internet with my laptop fine, but ofcourse its a cable that connects the two. Im thinking that if i try to connect my dell axim x3i , im going to either have to figure out how to connect a usb cable, or figure out a bluetooth way

I don't think Sprint has Bluetooth phones, so there's no bluetooth way. there's no way to do usb A or B to pocket pcs (only toshibas can i think). u'd need a cable to directly connect the pda and phone. supplynet has what u looking for, though they'll be expensive

I use to connect my Palm IIIx, Palm IIIc and Handera 330 via cable on the Sprint network with my fat, ugly but trustworthy old Qualcomm phone. But that was 3-4 years ago. Surfing at 14.4 was real slow back then.
Sprint did offer the SE 68i Bluetooth phone at one point. I never used it. But the reports I got from others was not very good.
The SE T610 is a great Bluetooth phone. If you live in a major Metropolitan area, you won't have any problems getting a good signal with T-Mobile. I'm in NYC and have no problems.
I like Sprint and still use Sprint's Sanyo 6400 phone for cell calls. Their network is a little better and more extensive than T-Mobile in NYC. But Sprint is too proprietary or Dogmatic on the Data Side for my tastes. Sprint never really embraced Bluetooth so I downsized my plan with Sprint and partially switched to T-Mobile. I like T-Mobile for connecting my Zire 72 and Ipaq to the Internet via Bluetooth. The Zire 72 is faster than the IPAQ 4155 when it comes to surfing the Internet via Bluetooth on the T-Mobile Network. And cell calls via T-Mobile is good too.
I use my IPAQ 4155 primarily for Wifi. That's real fast.

Is there a way to connect the X30 or any pocket pc to the internet to retreive emails without using a cell phone or wifi? I know the cellular pocket pc's can do this and was not sure if a non cellphone pocket pc can accomplish this task.
If not, why not? Doesn't it make sense?

I think u'll need a GSM/GPRS (or CDMA) CF card for your PPC. Cell companies provide the service (and card I think). SprintPCS is fastest at the moment, but T-Mobile is more affordable and I think you get more or unlimited bytes.

Well, you still need a way to connect to the 'Net, whether it's via a cell phone, PC pass-through, or what. One other way this can be accomplished requires a CD slot. MobilePlanet sells a GPRS/GSM compact flash card that you insert your SIM into, and you then use it like a wireless modem.
I've also seen some "old fashioned" dial-up modems that you insert into your Pocket PC and the plug a phone line into it.
