I have hated the d-pad of the 22xx since I bought mine but I noticed it's very easy to pull it out.

I've got a Nintedo d-pad I'm gonna use but I want to know if it's possible to remove the chrome around the d-pad of the iPAQ first, it seems to be possible to remove with the right screw driver (That would destroy the warrenty but I don't care) seems risky ofcourse. Does anyone know how the 2210 looks inside? Pictures would be nice or even basic "blue prints" If not does anyone know what material the "chrome" is made of so if it's possible to saw away if it's plastic with some chrome layer for example.

You could try checking out the FCC's site. They seem to include plenty of internal pictures in their report whenever they approve a device.

i'm pretty sure that the circular d=pad is connected to a "nub" of some sort. this nub moves 360degrees, plus down. The nub has a square top.

hope that helped

@ARNAGE2 well yeah I already noticed, I have already removed the d-pad, that was not the problem, the chrome around it is the biggest problem 'cause if I can't remove it I will have to glue some button on top of the regular d-pad and that would look horrible. The nintendo d-pad works in another way, it's difficult to use with this "nub" as it used another way but it's possible with some modding if the chrome can be removed.

@Tom FCC's site? Sounds good but I can't find what you are talking about.

Sorry for my horrible English earthlings 0X

How's this (https://svartifoss2.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/oet/forms/reports/Search_Form.hts?mode=Edit&form=Exhibits&application_id=486984&fcc_id=NM8GREATWALLA)?

I couldn't get anything with the FCC's search, so I used Google with site:fcc.gov (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=lang_en&ie=UTF-8&c2coff=1&q=ipaq+site%3Afcc.gov&btnG=Search).

Tom W.M. nevermind that  I cracked the LCD screen so it was no longer responding to my stylus then I went mad on it and smashed it up pissed off with a screw driver and now I know entirely how it looks inside. If I had a digital camera I would share it. After seeing it's internals I see I could have easily made this mod if I woulnd't have cracked my screen, the chrome is just chromed plastic and easy to get through. Anyway next time when someone gets crazy fingers he can look at those pictures when I get them.

IceCaveman, could you of put the d-pad back on the device if you had wanted to? I get a lot of dust and dirt under it and it would help me clean it out if I knew I could put it back on.
Thanks, Victor

Well if you just pull it out you can easily put it back in, it has four pointy arrow heads you snap back in and in the center is a some sort of hollow box that must cover the "nob" but it's very easy to put back in and infact mine became better resposive after the first time I took it out.
