I think that the update is worth the 5 dollars. If you already own SPB Plus then you might not want to shell out $19 for a new copy but if you have a copy already these updates are nice.

The SE support makes the icons look really nice and by clicking on the main link on the very far right you bring up a set of tabs that displays various things in depth like batttery, memory, all flash cards inclunding Flash ROM, SD and CF on my Toshiba. There are meters and graphs for network settings now also.

So far I havent figured out how to monitor my download speed with this but if I can it will be really nice.

This definitly fits the eye candy category if you like that.

I recently switched from Battery Bar to SPB Pocket Plus 2.0. I couldn't justify paying $5 for Battery Bar Pro when I could pay just $8 more and get a ton more features.

I have begun to like everything about SPB Pocket Plus. The drag and drog support for the Today launcher is great and there's a lot of skins available. Also, SPB's "close" button works a lot better than Battery Bar did.

I wonder if the regular Battery Bar will be getting any of these features that Battery Bar Pro has to offer.

I will not forgive a company that promises lifetime upgrades and then reneges by adding 'pro' to the name.
I would recommend people look elsewhere for software.

It's not that they did it but more how they did it. But true.

I've recently switched over to Power Pack by Insertcredit:

Overall I like the design better but there are a few issues. I have been commuting with the developer about issues that needed to be fixed and enchancements. He is working at it for the next version! This alternative to Battery Pack has HUGE potential!

Their product was always a scam anyway. It NEVER worked right on my Axims. What is the point of a battery meter if it can't tell you how much time you have left.

Low price and eye candy to get in the top 10 of Handango. Got to hand it to them though, smart as hell...

I'll add my voice of discontent to this forum. Used to be a big batterypack supporter (the number of times I used to recommend it on PPCThoughts!)

I was running an older version of batterypack (standard) - and tried to upgrade via my Handango link. It takes me to a download page for "batterypack pro". Then I contact support and they haven't responded. I install the program - and Batterypack Pro uses the same installer - minus the "pro" features. Which was something so trivial like hardware buttons that I have assigned to Pocket Informant anyway. Even the help-file is for "pro".

Sound like a rant? It is. Any developer that reneges on a promise and then, when challenged, pretend that it never happened deserves the bad-publicity they got. Batterypack has a very nice program bar and task switcher. It looks pretty. It's not a bad program. But they haven't endeared too many customers lately with their new offering.

My advice: Don't bother buying "pro" if you have the old version. SPB plus is a great alternative.

The battery-meter has never been accurate for me. I bought it for the program/task switcher.

I had the same problem as Tanalasta--bought Pro (and, by the way, the $5 price is bogus--when I clicked on the link, I was told the coupon had expired), got a Help file for Pro but non-Pro software. I've included the text of my communications with OmegaOne so far (including my last message to them, as yet unresponded to)--as you can, not the sharpest knives in the drawer. I'm on vacation now, but, if I don't hear back by the time I get home, I'm calling my credit card company to report fraudulent charges, since I clearly did not get the software I paid for...

THE TRANSCRIPT (from most newest to oldest message)

I'm sorry, but exactly how many times do I have to explain this?

I purchased Battery Pack Pro--you should have my credit card info by now, if you do a simple search.

I have a registration code. I have input it into my Pocket PC.

Your software operation does not match the information supplied in the help file. The alleged options which are supposed to exist do not exist. To put it more clearly, I apparently have been swindled out of $16 or so.

Is this a big deal? No. Is it annoying enough for me to contact my credit
card company and claim that I have been fraudently charged for non-
functional software? Yes.

Your comment that I need a registration code for BP Pro, in itself, suggests that the 'trial' version offered on Handango is, in fact, not a trial
version at all, but simply a non functioning version of the software, which
thus constitutes false advertising, given that 'Trial' is an option on the
website. If you choose not to offer a trial version of BP Pro, you need only state so at the outset.

I have no doubt that anyone reading this email exchange will reach the same conclusion. To correct your errors thus far, please explain why your
software is not functioning as promised, or send me $16 via Paypal or my
Mastercard.
