Pocket MSN Messenger and aol

I seem to remember a problem using these two things together. Anyone know if that's true, or should I be able to send an IM to an AOL user?
I'm not a very experienced IM user at all and wonder if they're even the same type of service. i.e. they work the same way.

MSN Messenger on the Pocket PC cannot send messages to AIM users, if that's what you're asking -- it can only send messages to other MSN Messenger users. There is an AIM client for Pocket PC available for purchase from www.aim.com (and, if you do a search on the forums here, there might still be a few free links around).
