I was wondering if anyone knew if the Axim X30 had any sort of video memory?

Someone was asking me about it and I told them I would look into it.

I was thinking that even if it didn't have any video memory the PXA270 would be able to handle it quite well because of the fact that its only 320*240 pixels, and I read that the processor has on-chip video cache. Am I right to believe that?

I am purchasing one very very soon and so is this person that was asking me about it so I just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas about it.

i may be wrong but only the new toshiba e800 has a dedicated video memory and ATI graphics chip.
i bealive that most pdas have a dedicated graphics chip but they are probably using the system memory

Actually, other Toshibas (at least the e755) have video memory. If I'm not mistaken, the e805 has 4 MB and the e755 has 2 MB, both with ATI chips. It wouldn't be unreasonable to assume it has video memory if there is a dedicated GPU, but the X30's new CPU has integrated video processing, thus requiring no additional GPU, again, if I'm not mistaken.

E800/805 has 2mb, 740 and 755 had if I am correct 386kb.
The stuff that actually uses the power of the graphics card is really awesome(betaplayer for instant) sadly not too many programs do.

by the time the new OS hits the shelves, we will need extra powerfull GPUs and more video memory because windows CE 5.0 will have directX support built in. But till that time there will be no need for -graphics- power especialy if you are not interested in playing games.
