All of a sudden the inbox on the PPC will not sync with Outlook mail on the PC. Has worked fine until now.
Mail on PPC is totally blank...Outlook on the PC has 27 messages on it but the file won't transfer. I deleted Activesync and downloaded a new one (both were 3.7.1) and everything else syncs (Calendar, Contacts, etc.) so I know that the PPC "sees" Outlook. I have Inbox checked on Activesync and the sync starts and then abruptly says that everything is synchronized. When when I look at the options on Activesync, the check box next to Inbox has disappeared. When I disconnect from Activesync, the box reappears.
Any idea's ?

As an update to the info above...I've hard reset the Ipaq and when totally clean, the inbox syncs perfectly with Outlook. As soon as I do a "restore" (a backup that was created about a week before this problem began) the inbox problem starts again. The only recent program add was a password program and even that's been in use for a few days before this started. I did download Wisbar to look at and the next time I synced, the problem began. Having done the hard reset I can't imagine Wisbar having anything to do with it now though.
What actually happens is I check the box next to "inbox" on Activesync and then it shows up as disabled, which is normal. As soon as I plug in the device to Activesync, the word inbox disappears from the Activesync front page and if you look at the "options" the checkbox next to inbox no longer shows up. As I said in my first post, Calendar and Tasks, etc. sync normally. I've also deleted (via add / remove programs on the PC) and restored Activesync 3.7.1 twice.
I don't know if this narrows the problem down or makes it more confusing.

I've an HP 2215...same deal...all was fine and then one day my pocket wouldn't sync with ANY OUTLOOK STUFF at all. No mail, no contacts, nothing....
Like you described, I also uninstalled/reinstalled activesync, rebooted (soft/hard whatever)....even tried to contact microsoft....I've had no luck.
This happened months ago....I've long given up.
If someone has something to suggest, I'm all ears.
PS> My desktop operates Win 98, and the outlook is for pocket pc 2002.
Peace. 0X

I said I was using Outlook 2002...not so.
I have Outlook 2000 on my puter at the moment. The difficulty was that I couldn't delete this version and install the 2002. When I tried to simply install 2002 I was told that it will not simply overwrite the older version so that it is essential to remove the older version first (this came from the Microsoft people). My older version came with Microsoft office professional and I cannot remove only the outlook. I've tried detect and repair...whatever I could think of.
Thanks for reading this.
Peace.

I can't comment on ActiveSync mail, because I don't use it, but I'm pretty sure you can just install Outlook 2002 on top of 2000 and it will do a clean upgrade.

If you wanted to do it the long-winded way, you could certainly uninstall Office 2000 completely, reinstall it sans Outlook, and then install Outlook 2002...

Thanks for the quick response...
I'll try yet again to reinstall the outlook 2002...but I could swear that Microsoft people told me that it could not overwrite. Or maybe I'm confusing something and it was the HP people? Whatever.
I'll try again (and again, and again).
Maybe something has changed that I've no idea about and I'll find myself pleasantly surprised

Good luck. :) As a precautionary step, you might want to back up your .PST file if you haven't already. The upgrade doesn't touch it, but just in case...

As I mentioned before, I don't use ActiveSync for Outlook email, but it sounds like something's gotten confused in the partnership. :( Your best bet might be to delete and recreate the partnership, if that's not a huge hassle. (By restoring, you typically reestablish an older partnership.)

I tried deleting and changing partnerships and it still won't work correctly. The thing that I don't understand is the box next to inbox is checked but as soon as I plug the Ipaq into the wire from the PC, inbox disappears as a sync category.
I even downloaded Sprite backup...made a backup and did another hard reset. Loaded inbox all by its self and just like before it moved all mail items to the PPC perfectly. I unchecked inbox on the Sprite backup and ran restore. When it finished running it had 30 errors...all of them were messages that got deleted from the inbox...back to square one, again.

I did however like the Sprite backup, I had been using a backup file kept on the PC and when I started it either as a backup or as a restore I had time to mow the lawn, eat lunch and watch a movie before it finally finished. Sprite took about 4-5 minutes, if that.
