I'm obviously not a fan of Palm, but those pictures just make me sad. It looks like it was attacked by a monkey with a butter knife. 8O

AHHHHH GOD, My eyes, my eyes!!! Look at that poor Palm! Iraqi tortue methods are nothing compared to what that guy did to that poor, poor palm.

*bjorn cries*

Geez Louise, that guy may have some clues about making Palms work longer and such, but why the hell doesn't he get IrfanView or XnView or something, knock a few MB off those ridiculously bandwidth-consumptive shots??? I had 35MB of free RAM, only a couple of other apps open, and my Dell just started shutting things down to try and load this one stupid page. Didn't even show me half the images there before it just stopped loading.

Anyway, no. I mean no, really. Just plain ugly and dumb. A cheap 4-AA enclosure from Radio Shack glued to the back and a lead going into a tiny hole in the Zire would have solved this with a whole lot more finesse, and leave the batteries more readily accessible for swapping out. Big honkin screws driven into a PDA? That's just ugly. Of course, I've seen people use duct tape to hold musical instruments together... so bad taste is by no means limited to Palm modders. ;)

Oh, no. Palm or not, no PDA should be abused like that. That's just wrong. I'm all for increasing battery life, but this is crazy. 8O

A note to the editors: if you ever come across someone doing this to a Pocket PC, please don't post about it here.

I guess if I had a Palm device, I wouldn't really care what it looked like, either. :)

I get concerned about battery life, too, but it's a much more elegant solution (IMO) to build an external battery extender. It's one more little box to carry around, but I've made one that take 4-AA batteries and is really pretty small.

That's got to be one of the funniest pictures I've ever seen (if for no other reason, just for the absurdity)!!

I have a hard time believing that this person actually felt this was the best way to increase his battery life. He MUST have been doing this just for kicks!!

I mean... look at all the problems he's introducing now by having a huge gaping opening across the bottom and sides of his case. It looks like the Grand Canyon in there!!

What do you call it? Snuff Palm Pics?

Couldn't happen to a better PDA!

Yeah... but he - actually - solved the basic problem he was having with his PDA-

Just didn't take everything into consideration... and now his Palm looks like :pukeface2:

But hey THAT was a funny story for the weekend. And best is, this guy really believes in what he is doing. I don't wanna see what his room or car looks like. :worried:

I'm running my laptop screen at 1400 by 1050 and I'm having to scroll sideways to see these pics 8O

If I wanted longer battery life I'd velcro an external pack to my 2210 and use a modified power connector to plug it in. It wouldn't be much larger than my old 38xx and cf expansion plus pack using AAA batteries

Before I bought my e310 a few years ago, I nearly went *alm due to battery life alone. I now have a 4155 and though the battery life isn't the greatest and I've never thought about "modifying" this baby. I wonder if the fellow's camera still works. He's got enough juice for a flash now.

Woah.... I thought I've seen some ugly case mods... but... wow...

I would have built a bigass battery pack that velcros on before BUTCHERING my PDA...

>Shudders to think of his 2215 looking like that<

I'd rather just buy a second Zire than spend the time/$$$ required for that job.

Poor Poor Poor Thing. I'm a Pocket pc lover but about what he did to that palm is so heartbreaking.

I'm running my PC at 1920x1440 and I still had to scroll to see these hideous pics.

Sort of reminds me of that movie Toy Story 2 of what that weird kid did to his toys :)

I used to have a 310 as well, battery life on it is equel/better then on the Zire 71.

That MOD job looks so bad.... makes you wonder if he used a spoon to do the cutting!

There should be some kind of law.....

This guy really loves to torture PDAs. Look at his "site" at http://junglemike.nm.ru/ and you'll see some pretty sick stuff 8O

Monsters like him should be put behind bars, before it's too late ...

Sid was in the first Toy Story. 8)

Even checked the DVD beforehand.

But yeah, glue a dolls head on the side and this is his PDA all right. :devilboy:

Good grief!! When he cut the plastic, did he use a knife or his teeth?

 Hideous!

With all the battery extenders on the market, that was purely a "hate crime against palms!" And if this guy really knows how to mod devices, he could have built his own connector. But no, he torotured the poor thing. He probably enjoys kicking puppies too!

But if you really hate your palm. I'm sure that he's standing by taking orders to "take care of your palm problem" - mafia style
