View Full Version : Pocket PC Desktop Remote Control
PPC Users,
I've used realvnc to control my desktop at home and clients. My question is the screen size that is viwed on my ppc is the full size of the remote desktop. Is there a way to condense the screen size of the remote pc to ppc resolution?
Would it be the client software I'm using "Realvnc" that doesn't use that technology for viewing? Do I need to use netop, or pcaccess that I see all the time?
Please advise.

I don't think VNC is capable of doing this - it uses the remote desktop's resolution, no matter what VNC client you're using.
Terminal Services/Remote Desktop is capable of what you want, but you need 2000 Server or XP Professional in order to have Terminal Services work.

Janek,
Thank You for the info. its appreciated. I noticed other apps like Netop and Goto My PC (which I will not pay for) - would these happen to allow full screen resolution control?
If I'm running windows 2000 professional and windows xp I could use terminal services couldn't I? I also want to have it where my clients can use the same setup as I do. Just in case they call me and I have to dial remotely.
Would there be yet a ppc upgrade to windows 2003 mobile? Last but not least. My pocket pc every so often I will perform a hard reset or re-image my pc where my ppc connects to. When this is done - some of the data for calendar, contacts are not correct. I'm using active sync between my pc and my on-line email provider. What is the best method to go about when I need to make sure my data is up to date in both locations?
Please advise.

I don't know - I haven't used them.

For XP Pro, yes. For 2000 Pro, no.

Are you asking me about the Thera? You keep on asking this, and my answer remains the same - no, there's not going to be one. Even the i700 doesn't have one as of this moment.

I don't quite understand. What is "not correct" about your data?

Janek,
Thank You for the information requested.
What I would like to know is the following:
I use my ppc and sync it between my desktop/ppc and my isp provider. There are times that I need to re-image my desktop pc or ppc with a hard reset. Before executing this procedure, what are the important steps to preserve data integrity?
In the past, I've ran into problems with data mismatch or calendar entries.'
Please advise.
