Well it looks like I am going to take the plunge and replace my old faithful Jornada with a bright shinny Toshiba e750 (probably a refurbed one off ebay - anybody have any experience with them?).
I haven't even sold off my Jornada or got together the cash for my purchase yet, but already I am thinking of what I am going to house the toshiba in. I am sooooo used to just slipping my Jornada into my pocket and not worry about the screen due to the screen cover. As my first ever purchase of a PDA without a built in screen cover I am wondering what options I have. I am not really a big fan of leather cases. I bought one for my Jornada but never really used it - it just added too much bulk and black really isn't my colour :D .
In particular I was thinking of the Cover Up (http://www.thepocketsolution.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=PSI-004&Category_Code=SC&Product_Count=3) from Pocket Solutions - anybody have one of these? It seems to match the Toshiba very well in style, add very little extra size and is pretty cheap.

I know I know - this has been a very hard decision for me, but the time has come! I had the opportunity to play around with an iPaq 5450 for a week or so and I am sold on the greater screen real estate the 3.8 inch screen offers - especially for note taking which is one of the biggest things for me.
As the only way I can really afford a new device is selling off my accumlated Jornada stuff (a lot of which I never ended up using :D - like the pocket keyboard) I want to do it now while they are still commanding a reasonable price on ebay. A refurbished Toshiba e755 seems the best option out there at the moment for what I want - built in wifi a larger screen, WM2003 (maybe even WM2003 SE if some of the rumours are to be believed....) and a form factor/styling that I like.
I will be sorry to see the Jornada go, but......

I bought a referbed e740 and have had no problems with it at all. Go ahead and take the plunge.

Although I am in Ireland and I am selling off my Jornada stuff on the Uk version of ebay it looks like I am going to get a better deal on a refurb Toshiba on ebay US - the exchange rate (€-US$) works in my favour as well :D. Just wondering if there are any horror stories I should know about before shelling out my hard earned...

I have one for Dell X3. While the cover is not too bad, I wouldn't buy from Pocket solutions ever again. Its support is seriously lacking. After I placed an order, they charged immediately but didn't ship the item for more than three weeks. I sent emails numerous times, and none of them were answered. In the mean time, I decided to return my X3 and sent an email to Pocket Solutions not to ship my cover and refund the money. No response. I finally warned them I would file a charge back to my cc company, and all of sudden, the package showed up at my door a few days later. I checked the stamp date on the package, and it was shipped after my final warning message. Of course I didn't need the cover anymore by then since I already had returned the X3 to Dell. I sent a message for thre return instruction and of course there was no response. I finally gave up and took it as a lesson learned.

I had one for my Tosh e310. Worked very well and was thin and lite! Beware though it does not offer any "protection" against falls, even of only a foot or so. All it does is cover the screen, and that it does very well.
I had no problems with Pocket Solutions when I ordered my CoverUp, but that was in November of 2002. In fact they sent me free of charge a new set of stick on thingys because I had to send my Tosh back for some warranty service. I had to take the coverup off to send it back. Got a replacement unit from Tosh and then just reinstalled the coverup on the new unit.
But I have heard many horror stories in the last 6 months of so of the poor service and long wait times for orders etc from Pocket Solutions. In fact when I tried to access their website several months back I got nothing. Looks like though they are back in business.
Although the unit is great for keeping your PDA slim and light, the coverup is not too great at keeping your PDA in one piece if you drop it. And drops will happen.
I found that Sena cases are great. I replaced my Tosh with an Ipaq 2215 and found the Sena case for that just great. A bit more bulky but definitely better for protecting against drops and I can even syc my 2215 without removing it from the case.
Just my two cents worth.

I agree with that completely, the two magnets that hold down the cover on the Sena are really strong. Takes almost no effort to open it, but I could not shake it open no matter what I did. They do cost a bit more then the Coverup though...

I used a Cover-Up with my Dell Axim X5. You can find my review over here (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/articles.php?action=expand,15268). As a Jornada buff, I really, really, really like it at lot. At the time, Pocket Solutions was very responsive, but I haven't had contact with them since then.

I bought a Coverup for my T2 from these guys last summer. The product was as advertised but customer service was horrible. I don't think I would order from them again.

All I am really after is something to protect the screen while it is in my pocket or rattling around in an inside pocket of my courier bag. I know drops happen (I have dropped all of my PDA at some time or another) but for me the added protection of a leather case is not worth the extra size and....
Well I just do not really like the look of most of them - I guess I am just not a leather sort of guy :D. I like my technology naked!

Thanks for the review link - it answered a lot of my questions.
The support and service issues seem a worry - but given the low price (especially when converted to €!) I think it is probably worth the gamble.
Thanks for all the comments

I had a Toshiba E355, now I have an E755. I have been more than happy with using the leather slip-case that comes with these machines, and often wonder why people want to bulk up their machines with these huge cases that I see other brands supply.
The E750 is not the smallest PDA about, but it fits fine in my jeans, trousers, shorts front pocket. If I had one of those HP things with them thar bulky cases I doubt I'd be saying the same.
The slip-case comes with a stiff panel in the case designed to protect the screen ... you might find you really have no need of additional protection.

Size wise - I am used to carrying around my Jornada, which is quite large compared to some of the HP PPCs etc, so I do not think that will worry me (Hell I used to carry my Newton around in the pocket on my pants so any PPC is going to be small compared to that :D )
The slip case does sound like a pretty good solution actuall as it would also protect the case from scratches etc. However, as I am planning to buy a refurb e750 or ebay I am not sure if it will come with the case etc.
