Although I have browsed this site wirelessly before, this is my first wireless post!

I am posting from the Pacific Mall in Toronto. It apparently works in only one side of the 1st floor. I was also able to connect at a Staples store in North York. I got connected in both cases without signing up for anything. Anyone know of other places?

I'd check out sites like Boingo (http://www.boingo.com/). Many have a list of locations in different cities. Here (http://www.boingo.com/search.html?pgt=results&ctystr=Toronto&cnty=CA&stestr=&ste=&cte=&x=74&y=13)'s the list of ones in Toronto.

I once got connected near this street with a lawyer's office, some water-supply store, restaurant, Korean bakery, institution/academy, and some other stores squeezed together in one block...it's on Younge street, I think somewhere between Finch and Steeles.

No idea if it still works though! ^^;; It was about a month or so ago...

Yes, Boingo is a pay service, but they allow people to operate hotspots for free if they wish. It used to say "Free Network" next to the location, but now it looks like it says something like "Free amenity for patrons..." under details.

Hello all! I'm new! I'm also from Toronto and I think I can give some good advice on this subject. Lettieri at Bathurst and Bloor has free wi-fi (attached to Honest Ed's on ground floor, right at the corner), as does the entire Forest Hill neighbourhood. It's advertised as the first Canadian free wi-fi neighbourhood. It's cool to eat ice cream at Baskin Robbins while surfing. Or you can crash on a bench outside and surf for free! I work in Forest Hill and am so jealous of all those rich-y's! I'll let you know if I find any more locations.
