We previously posted about PPCs and Wimbledon. Well, now for something familiar but ever so slightly different – a caption competition. Jonathan Choo sent us the picture below, which shows Wimbledon chair umpire Ted Watts looking at his Pocket PC (possibly an iPAQ h3xxx) during the match between Venus Williams and Karoline Sprem.

So you wits, what do you think Mr Watts is thinking/doing with his Pocket PC? Let's have some entertaining captions for the photo. No prizes but the respect and amusement of your fellow PPCers. I know you're up to the challenge.

It's not a 3700 series since there's no power supply plug in the lower left corner. So it must be at least a 3800 series.

The guy in the picture is Ted Watts - the Chair Umpire of the game, not Alan Mills...

He is infamous for awarding one extra point to K Sprem at the crucial tie-breaker in the V Williams' loss.

Alan Mills is the Tournament Referee for Wimbledon.

And, BTW, Mr. Watts is done referring the Wimbledon, atleast for now!

Also, it is pretty clear that the PDA is an iPAQ 3000 / 5000 series because of the port at the bottom you can see.

Is this supposed to be a serious thread???

I think that's what they look at to determine if the ball was in or out... if it was a line ball or something...

Or is it a scoring thing???

I'll see if I can catch this at Maria Sharapova's game... she may not be as pretty as Anna, but she surely can play Tennis...

"Better hurry up, I still have another game to catch!"

Its either a 3800 or 3900 iPAQ (no power or headphone jack on bottom left corner).

This capture was taken just seconds after the umpire made the mistake of giving a point to Karolina Sprem in the last set (winning) against Venus Williams. Could a PocketPC glitch actually gave the match towards Sprem? Who knows...
