You can get a lot here at Project Gutenberg (http://www.gutenberg.net/) They are just plain text files though.

That's a great list of sites. The only one I would add is the University of Virginia list. I've used this many times for building up my collection.

Being able to get just about all the classics for free is one of the many great things about eBooks.
