I'm looking for an app that will read me my e-mail or eBooks - say while I'm stuck in traffic for an hour on my commute home. Any suggestions?

I've used Fonix i.Speak on and off for the past year. Really haven't had a big use for it, but it works fairly well when I use it.

Yes, I tried the demo. Worked pretty well. YOu can try it and see if you like it. I didn't end up buying it, wouldn't use it much.

I could see hearing your e-mail with it on the way home, to save time. I couldn't imagine hearing an e-book on it, or with any of these speech synthesis programs. The monotonous computer voice would get too annoying to bear hearing a book on!

Better for e-books would be to buy them in spoken form, spoke by a human being, not a computer! Such as those at audible.com. Or buy it on cassettes or CD and encode it (low bitrate, mono) yourself.
