fyi: Resco released Resco Explorer 5.1 a few days ago. afaict, the only improvement over 5.0 is landscape support for WM2003SE.

I also like the Resco Explorer FTP client. Compared to the built-in Explorer, it's hard to go wrong with either of these.

fyi: Resco released Resco Explorer 5.1 a few days ago. afaict, the only improvement over 5.0 is landscape support for WM2003SE.
That's the only enhancement I saw, too, which makes it seem a bit much requiring a new registration code.

However, landscape support may help more users than just those with WM 2K3 SE. I tested Resco Explorer 5.0 in landscape mode using dotPocket on my iPAQ 5550. While the file browser itself seemed to work fine, the numerous dialog windows were truncated. I suspect 5.1 would fix the problem for users of Nyditot Virtual Display and dotPocket.

FYI PPXplorer does allow you to encrypt files anywhere on your Pocket PC and you can also encrypt all files in a directory, just like what Resco Explorer does. My Safe has more capability that just encrypting files. You can organize your private files in it by making folders and open your files directly from within My Safe.

Is it possible to decrypt PPC files on the PC? For example synchronized files from My Documents folder that are copied to the PC. Or files stored on a flash card. I use the internal storage only to store programs (and program execution memory) and only keep my data files on a CF and SD cards.

This for 2 reasons 1) experience taught me not to trust a device internal memory (I lost data a few times due to self hard reset, etc.) and 2) I can transfer large files much faster using my USB 2.0 card reader and let's make it 3) I can very easily modify files that are stored on the cards directly using the appropriate PC app.

I don't know about PPXplorer, but Resco Explorer includes a PC component that adds a Resco Crypting action to the Windows Explorer context menu. This allows you to encrypt or decrypt files on the PC.

However, before the thread digresses much more, let's get back to PPXplorer.
