Among all of the great applications that have been developed to help us navigate our Pocket PC file systems, there is one that offers something a little special: PPXplorer.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/adrian/PPXplorer.jpg" /><br /><br />Among the many features of PPXplorer are:<br /><br />• File and folder copy, move, delete,... <br />• Registry editor (Copy, move, rename, import, export, search, ...) <br />• Network browser <br />• Send multiple files and folders via Infra-red (OBEX) <br />• System info in properties (Device info, memory, power, ...) <br />• Search files, folders, and text in files <br />• Quick "Send To" command <br />• Favorites (quick folder or registry key access) <br />• Built-in viewer (Hex, ANSI, UNICODE) <br />• File association (associate programs and icons to file extensions) <br />• File encryption <br />• Create shortcut to files, folders, registry keys, and registry values <br />• A complete and easily accessible help (Help button in dialog boxes) <br /><br />But, the neatest feature is called "My Safe." This is a secure, password-protected folder for storing important and private files. When you copy or move files from "File System" to "My Safe", PPXplorer automatically encrypts the files, and when you copy or move files from "My Safe" to "File System", PPXplorer automatically decrypts the files.<br /><br />There is a free demo available and a full version for $14.99 via <a href="http://www.handango.com/brainstore/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=311&productId=122542">Handango</a>.

PPXplorer looks a lot like Resco Explorer, except for the My Safe area. However, Resco Explorer lets you encrypt files anywhere on your Pocket PC without moving them to a special directory. You can also encrypt all of the files in a directory easily.
Resco Explorer does cost a bit more, though. You can read a review of Resco Explorer (http://review.svpocketpc.com/rescoexplorer5/RescoExplorer5.html) at my Web site if you want to see the pros and cons.

fyi: Resco released Resco Explorer 5.1 a few days ago. afaict, the only improvement over 5.0 is landscape support for WM2003SE.

I also like the Resco Explorer FTP client. Compared to the built-in Explorer, it's hard to go wrong with either of these.

That's the only enhancement I saw, too, which makes it seem a bit much requiring a new registration code.
However, landscape support may help more users than just those with WM 2K3 SE. I tested Resco Explorer 5.0 in landscape mode using dotPocket on my iPAQ 5550. While the file browser itself seemed to work fine, the numerous dialog windows were truncated. I suspect 5.1 would fix the problem for users of Nyditot Virtual Display and dotPocket.

Thank you all for checking my software.

FYI PPXplorer does allow you to encrypt files anywhere on your Pocket PC and you can also encrypt all files in a directory, just like what Resco Explorer does. My Safe has more capability that just encrypting files. You can organize your private files in it by making folders and open your files directly from within My Safe.

Is it possible to decrypt PPC files on the PC? For example synchronized files from My Documents folder that are copied to the PC. Or files stored on a flash card. I use the internal storage only to store programs (and program execution memory) and only keep my data files on a CF and SD cards.
This for 2 reasons 1) experience taught me not to trust a device internal memory (I lost data a few times due to self hard reset, etc.) and 2) I can transfer large files much faster using my USB 2.0 card reader and let's make it 3) I can very easily modify files that are stored on the cards directly using the appropriate PC app.

I don't know about PPXplorer, but Resco Explorer includes a PC component that adds a Resco Crypting action to the Windows Explorer context menu. This allows you to encrypt or decrypt files on the PC.

i wish i could find reviews for wisbar/adv .
I did a :google: and found one at Pocket PC Life (http://www.pocketpclife.co.uk/featureddetails.asp?article=412).
However, before the thread digresses much more, let's get back to PPXplorer.
