Just starting out with a IPAQ 4355 and want to know if anyone has any
experience with building forms in MS Word with drop downs, etc. and then
import into Pocket Word and make it work? I do boat inspections and am trying to streamline. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Ross

I'm not too optimistic about being able to create forms with drop-downs for Pocket Word. You may be better off using a tool that's made specifically for the Pocket PC, like HanDBase or Pocket PC Creations.

Pocket Word supporting forms? :rotfl:  :rotfl: I hate to break the news to you, but Pocket Word doesn't even support headings. It's more like Pocket Wordpad.

You might be better off trying something in Excel, but I'm no Excel expert. If that doesn't work, Brad's database suggestions would work, or you could try a free form-building tool (like GrandaSoft's XS Forms and XS Designer (http://www.grandasoft.com)).

You'll be very disappointed with both Pocket Word and Pocket Excel if you think either approaches the functionality of their desktop counterparts. You will find no equivalent for functions that use VBA. You should be careful when using Pocket Word with a Word document since any unsupported features (that is, just about anything other than text and simple paragraph formatting) will be stripped off when it is converted through ActiveSync and these do not reappear when converted back to your desktop.

You will need to consider apps such as TextMaker that can read and write Word format and investigate what they support. For Excel, I would suggest taking a look at PlanMaker or another app that can read and write Excel format. The disappointing reality is that Pocket Word and Pocket Excel do not.
