Here, I sum up my first impressions."</i><br /><br />Pavel's referring to the fact that he's written a preview, not a review, and as such realizes that he can't give a final conclusion on this preproduction device. Nevertheless, I think this picture sums up his opinion on the unit.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/parekh-20040611-PaveliPAQ6300.jpg" /><br /><br />The few "previews" coming out this week suggest there's a lot to like about the unit. I hope we can get our hands on it soon -- and <a href="http://estore.shopplex.com/app/storefront.aspx?cat_id=162&inv_id=31001143129607&modid=30214092059015&aid=5">preordering it from Tek 'N' Toys</a> might be one way to do just that. That's subjective... I don't find it nearly as ugly as you do.

And still those of us who languish in CDMA land wonder if any one will every build a nice little PDA/phone combo for them....sigh.

200 mhz processor...forget it.

In the era of 628-MHz processors, a 200-MHz processor seems insufficient. IT IS NOT! I tried a few games, both 2-D scrolling shooters and 3-D games, and there was not the slightest difference. The device handles other types of tasks smooth and fast, without any delays in response.

I don't know, we'll see about that. The lack of VGA is what really kills me. There is always something missing.

If it is running at 200 mhz, is it using the TI Omap processor?

Before discounting this processor as being inadequate, are there any reviews of how this new processor compares to the faster ones in place in other Pocket PC's?

I ask because my Centrino processor in my notebook has a much slower speed than my partners P4, but it blows his notebook away in performance and battery life.

Could the TI Omap processor be like the Centrino processor offering a superior design and therefor similar or superior performance?

Yep.

Not yet, as the device hasn't been released.

Could the TI Omap processor be like the Centrino processor offering a superior design and therefor similar or superior performance?
Absolutely - but we'll have to wait until release to figure out the exact performance metrics.
