I am wondering if there is a way to find out if there are any Bluetooth sites in my town. I'd like to connect my Ipaq 1945 to one, but have no idea where one is. Thanks for any help....

If you mean hotspots, a place where you can connect to the internet over Bluetooth, you're probably out of luck. I have a Bluetooth wireless network running at home, using a Belkin radio/router, but public places with wireless internet access tend to use WiFi, which has a stronger signal and is dedicated specifically to making network connections (whereas Bluetooth is usually used to help devices talk to each other).

Sorry for the bad news. The good news is that WiFi Compact Flash cards are fairly inexpensive now, and one of those will let you connect to a wireless network. Some public access points are free, whereas others (like the ones in Starbucks) will require you to purchase blocks of access time.

Yes, I did mean hotspots. Thanks for the clear explanation. It's my fault I didn't research the differences between BT and WiFi earlier. I probably would've gotten a different unit, although I am happy with the 1945.

I searched online for a WiFi SD card, but could only find one that SanDisk makes that has memory built in. Since I already have a memory card, I hate to spend more than I need to. Can you steer me to a card that has WiFi only?

Also, is there a way to find out where in my town there are WiFi hotspots?

Thanks....

SanDisk does make a WiFi card without memory - I have one and it's very nice! Mobileplanet sells it (http://www.mobileplanet.com/private/pocketpcthoughts/product.asp?dept%5Fid=5040&pf%5Fid=MP853528&listing=1) for $99.

To locate WiFi hotspots, try Intel's Hotspot Finder. (http://intel.jiwire.com/) Good luck, and have fun! :D
