My IPAQ 5555 has been very slow for months. I use it for note taking and have probably about 1,000 notes or so -- most of them very small, under 1k -- in notes and in microsoft word.
The unit is so slow that I practically have to soft boot it every time i want to add another note. I've talked to many folks at HP, but they just keep blaming Microsoft. they say it's a software problem and nothing can be done.
I have tons of memory. Moving the stuff to a card doesn't seem to help.
Any suggestions? I have loaded 1.10.10, but it doesn't help.
Thanks.

Have you ever used the program Check Notifications availabe from Scary Bear Software (http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html)? I bet you've got tons of them if you haven't and they're what's slowing you down. They also have a fix so it won't happen again if this turns out to be what the problem was.

Download a copy of ScaryBear's Check Notifications. (http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html) See if that helps!

Besides checking for duplicate notifications, I've heard removing DM_k.lnk from the \Windows\StartUp folder will give a noticeable performance boost. That program is used for sleeve support, so, if you use sleeves, you'll have to start it manually.

You may also be running into a file system issue. PPC's store Notes as files on your device, so your device may be bumping into some volume/FAT related issues.
You might want to go thru your Notes and archive those that you don't need anymore; or you may want to create subfolder(s) under Notes in Outlook and copy some of the not so necessary ones there. As PPC will only sync those in the root folder, this may help speed things up.
You also likely have a Notification Database thing going on. If you don't have ScaryBear's Check Notifications installed, then you need to get that and run it.
