I just installed the rom update for my Axim (X3i), and what a difference. They listed one of the fixes as being an increase in display performace, I think that's really understated. My machine is much faster, especially in IE.

One strange thing I found is that the labels in the Start menu are all white now, instead of black, making the text hard/impossible to read with certain themes. I'm sure there is a way to change this back, but I found it strange.

Care to provide a link for it?

I did a search on Dell, and I found this upgrade (http://support.dell.com/filelib/format.aspx?releaseid=r77205) from May 24th. Is this it?

Yes, that's the one. I didn't realize that I was one of the first here installing it, I figured people already knew about it.

I used my Axim for hours last night, actually the first time that I ever ran the battery dead since I got it. Maybe I'm nuts, but I think that upgrade made it a LOT faster.

Ah, I misunderstood. It sounds like that's just a ROM update to WM 2003, not an upgrade to WM 2003 SE. I thought you were saying that the Windows Mobile 2003 SE upgrade was out (even though you correctly said "update", not "upgrade"). Sorry for the confusion.

I just installed the ROM update, and I agree IE seems much faster. However now I when I enable my wireless I'm not connected to my network...must go to settings and maually connect, and it takes a number of attempts before it will connect. Anyone else have this problem?
