I just got a 512 mb cf at buy.com for 59.99.

There was a 512 mb Kingston CF card that had a $12 rebate. In addition, Buy.com had emailed me a 10% off coupon that is good until 6/1. That brought the price down by another $8. Also, it was free shipping.

The 512 mb CF from SanDisk had sold out.

So for those of you who aren't exclusively SD types, check through your junk mail for the coupon.

I'm confused about how much you actually paid for the card. Was it $59.99 before the rebate and discount or after? Why not provide a link to the page (if the deal is still available)?

If you don't mind a SanDisk card, you can get a 512 MB one at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006B9QF/qid=1084797094/sr=8-1/ref=pd_ka_1/102-1092540-0804105?v=glance&s=electronics&n=507846) for $58.74 (after a $20 rebate). That deal has been going on for a while.

Your Amazon deal is better...

After rebate, free shipping & coupon, the Buy.com deal is $59.99. I had been looking at pricewatch.com and those prices made me think the Buy.com deal was pretty good. Sorry.

Nope I would say that your deal for the Kingston card is the better deal... it may not be cheaper but it is the better deal...

No need to apologize. $59.99 is a pretty good price, and the Amazon price is only slightly cheaper (less than $2). It all depends on whether somebody cares whether they get a SanDisk or Kingston card.

Put it this way, with the SanDisk card you don't need the special customer coupon from Buy.com.

As far as Kingston vs. Sandisk, I have to confess I really don't know enough about it, but there was some negative chatter about Sandisk a while back.

I've owned a Kingston 128 mb since 1999 or 2000 and it hasn't failed me. But I can't say the product under the 128 mb Kingston label is the same as the one I got yesterday...

But I did have my first CF card die on me last year. It was a 64 mb card under the AVL label. I bought it on Ebay at a bargain price about four years ago. So maybe getting too good a deal is not desireable.
