I think this is an easy fix but I can't seem to figure it out. A couple of days ago my PPC developed this very annoying habit of automatically trying to sync. No matter what application I'm in I will get an occassional notification that my PPC is attempting to sync wirelessly but the connection is unavailable. At that point I have to select "Settings" (hypertext) or "Dismiss". I have tried settings to see if I can make this stop, but no luck. I end up selecting "Dismiss". It then opens Activesync on my PPC and leaves it open until I manually close it.

As always, any suggestions are appreciated.

UPDATE - The message is a box at the top of my PPC that reads as follows:

Cannot Connect: Unable to connect. Uou have no modem entries created, and no network card present.

At the bottom of the box is hypertext for Settings or a Dismiss button.

Make sure you don't have a mail account that is set up to "connect and check for mail" every few minutes...

shawnc, on your PPC also check: Activesync/tools/options to see if scheduling is perhaps checked.

Anyone know why my Desktop Activesync always tries to find a device when the computer starts and complains it doesn't 'recognize' the non-existant device? I have bluetooth activesync set up to a Com port, but have had this setup before without any problems.

shawnc,

Have you recently installed Journal Bar? This is an ongoing problem with JB. If you have installed or updated it recently, try going to Journal Bar Options and uncheck "Use Connection Manager."

OK, this is getting way beyond irritating. Apparently this box opens up even when my PPC is off, draining the battery. I thought it was a simple setting thing, but its a little more complicated that I expected  .

Steve - how would I check for this?

Dave - thanx for the tip. Here is what I have in Activesync options. Under PC both Use modile schedule to sync with this PC and Sync with this PC during manul sync are selected. Nothing is loaded under the Server tab and under Mobile Schedule both Peak and Offpeak options are set to Manual. The sync outgoing items as they are sent is not checked. Does anything in there sound to you like it may be causing my problem?

JGRNT1 - No journal bar though I did recently install SPB Pocket Plus. I've gone through most of the options but don't think it is what is causing my problem. Thanx for the tip.

Any others? This is REALLY beginning to become annoying. Thanx again.

Do you use your Pocket PC to read email? If yes, the settings are there for the accounts use set up. If you don't use it to read email, your problem lies elsewhere...

ShawnC...

In your ActiveSync settings on your PocketPC device... "Use mobile schedule to sync with this PC" should not be checked... this will have the PocketPC trying to sync with you desktop...

I SWEAR I haven't done ANYTHING to my PPC since early this morning and for some magical, unexplained reason, the problem appears to have gone away. Go figure.

Oh well, just to be safe I took your advice Ripper. Thanx for the tip and explanation.
