As if I needed more proof that PPC Thoughts was the greatest site in the universe...
I sold my Ipaq 5555 (never even used it) and Axim X5 with all the accessories and made a nice penny. My company was hooking me up with a Treo 600, so I figured I should cash in on the old units while I still could get something for them.
Well, long story short, I hated the Treo, gave it back, and had plenty of money in the bank. Wanting to keep some of it, I was looking for a PDA for under $300, and had all but settled on the Ipaq 1945. A nice unit, but not really what I wanted. I wanted a 2215...
Anyway, long story short, your price grabber piece last week caught my eye, and I ended up getting a refurbed 2215 for $284 from Mobile Planet (yes, I know, buydig had it cheaper, but I'd rather do biz with a name I've done biz with before) and a socket Wifi card on sale for $90.
You guys saved me a nice chunk of change and I really appreciate it. I'm happy as can be with my new Ipaq, and I saved a lot buying it.
Thanks!

Out of curiosity -- what didn't you like about the Treo?

I used a Treo as part of a review I did for Australian Personal Computer and felt that the Treo was too big to be an everyday phone (for me at least). I didn't think there was anything wrong wth the screen and I looked at a lot of phones that week!

I don't know where to begin, really...
1. The low res screen is really a downer. It's not that I didn't know this going in, but I forgot how much I liked high-res screens.
2. The camera is the worst camera I've ever seen on a phone. Considering the generally good quality of the camera on my Nokia 3650, it's hard to believe how bad it really is. Blue dots (a known issue) litter most of the pictures I took...
3. The overall UI was kinda bad... It's like someone took a pda and shoved a phone into it. It just didn't seem like it was as nicely integrated as it could've been. That's been my problem with pda/phone combos every time I've tried one: The PPCPE, the Tungsten W, the Treo 600, even the Treo 270. I think the SonyEricsson P800 & P900 are the only devices that strike a good balance between PDA and phone (at least that I've played with personally).
4. The keyboard can be sluggish to respond at times (not the end of the world, just annoying.
5. It doesn't fit against your face very well compared to a dedicated phone. It's better than most others, but not the ideal phone.
6. Finally, and most importantly, it's impossible to dial without looking at which makes it utterly useless in the car. Even with the strange keypad layout, I can dial my 3650 with my eyes closed. This one? Either the tiny buttons on the thumbboard (which you kinda could do if you practiced enough) or the soft buttons on the screen, neither of which is a great solution if you're on the go.
I think that just about covers it.
I'm not really trying to bag on the Treo, and it is the best device of its time that I've tried, but there's plenty of room for improvement. I guess we'll see how it goes if a Treo 610 comes out, but for now? Not impressed...

Thanks for the feedback. It's useful to get some counter-opinions -- most Treo 600 users seem to say it's the best thing since sliced bread, but every electronic gadget has its ups and downs. ;)

Yeah...
Although if the Treo is a sign of what's to come, we can expect some pretty good things coming...

Without a doubt. I've been tempted by the Treo myself. It's the waiting part that's hard... :P
