Unlike <a href="http://www.good.com/index.php/products_pocketpc.html">GoodLink,</a> which requires the Phone Edition operating system, Smartner Duality will work with any Pocket PC with a GPRS-enabled handset. <br /><br />"Duality Always-On Mail brings all the key components that users are familiar with when using Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes at their desktop and pushes them, over the air, to their PDA or Smartphone." Here are just a few of the key features:<br /><br />• View messages in real-time<br />• Get data on PDA, Smartphone and desktop simultaneously<br />• All actions mirrored to desktop view in real-time, over the air<br />• Receive attachments in native format (Pocket Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF, etc.)<br />• Configurable message truncation download size from 0kb (subject line only) upwards<br />• Identify and add addressees from contacts list<br />• Resolve incomplete email addresses using Outlook Contacts<br />• Alerts as new mail is received; no need to poll for new messages<br />• Work on or offline; no need to remain in constant mobile coverage<br />• Network connections established and maintained automatically<br />• Operate via GPRS or GSM; with option to switch in seconds<br />• Full real-time, bi-directional synchronisation over the air<br />• Option to remotely suspend the service temporarily<br />• Data compression, typically 2:1 size reduction, reducing the cost of GPRS traffic<br />• Smart message handling; no repeat transfer of data whilst undocked<br /><br />Hello, Smartner Duality? Can I get the kitchen sink, too? This seems like a killer application, and is <a href="http://www.handango.com/brainstore//PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=311&jid=84DF8FDC1AF3DA5X7D969EF8991963D5&platformId=2&productType=2&productId=95488&sectionId=0&catalog=30">reasonably priced</a> at $5/month. Is anyone using this? Has anyone used this who can compare it to any of the similar services? [Affiliate]

Zipper you beat me to it. Smarter does not have a NOC in the US. Not being a PPC PE or the like I wonder what 'Smarter' does to battery life? The ability to be in a low power mode listening for server pushes is what makes PPC PE, RIM, Palm type devices special. PPC does not work this way so I wonder what kind of impact 'Smarter' has on battery life :?:

Don't worry..be happy. If you want to upgrade in the near future. I heard rumors that the new Ipaq 68xx will have RIM type push capabilities.

Anyone here want to confirm that?

It will install in the US, at least at my computer it will. The version from Handango, however, does not support Lotus Notes and requires Exchange only. This is a major disappointment, since I am constantly seeking a wireless connection to my corporate Lotus Notes (my company does not have any "supported" wireless connectivity). Oh well, only cost me $7.10 (prorated first month, plus full second month).

AH CRUD

Looks like they would have given RIM/Good a real run for the money...

Well you need to look at Seven Personal Edition (http://www.seven.com/main.jsp?menu=products&sec=indi&sub=pers&sub2=arch) Does not even need company support as long as SSL is open on the firewall. :devilboy:

Seven looks good to me as well, but there is no way that I can see to purchase it on the fly, and t-mobile is not on the subscriber list.

So I have a choice of inexpensive plan with free unlimited internet . . .
. . . or getting my email pushed to me over wap, but paying twice the price

Oh well.. looks like im still out of luck for a while. Maybe I should move to the uk and join up on O2

We have Extended Systems' OneBridge Mobile Groupware ( formerly known as Extend Connect Server ). It works great with any knd of mobile devices over WLAN, GPRS and Network. The so called Live-Connect delivers Lotus Domino- and Exchange - Mails instantly to your device. Works great !
Unfortunately it's a corporate solution and not for sale on a monthly basis or so...

Well, heres somthing you might like.

We use a company called Reply Wireless. They provide a Extended Systems one bridge solution like Commander66 but with a difference, we pay a monthly subscription and they do all the work.

Its for corporate solutions though as you need a domino or exchange server.

What happens is when you buy the product you setup an IPSEC tunnel between yoursevles and Reply Wireless. Then thats it, nothing is installed on your servers, they use the IPSec tunnel to monitor your specified users and when they recieve an email it will push it to their device.

Heres the best bit, the client which you have to install on the device can go onto an XDA2, P900, Nokia 6600, Treo600 or ANY GPRS enabled smart device. One of our customers even has an iPAQ 3970 and a Nokia 6310i. The nokia has a bluetooth link open to the ipaq and a GPRS connection to the net and the 2 devices work together, at the moment my P900 is at home and the bluetooth link to my computer is providing the internet connection.

It has all the same features as Blackberry but its a managed service with a lower monthly fee than Blackberry. They will do all server upgrades, send software upgrades to the device (no back to base for upgrades).

Its also Global. All your device needs is an internet connection either via GSM, GPRS or those other methods. The link to your company is via IPSEC so as long as you have a firewall and an internet connection your in there.

This may sound like sales and it proberbly is cos we resell it in the UK and I happen to really like it.

Security wise its better than the BB, all data is encrypted from start to finish. Unlike the BB no data is stored on their NOC which is why some big banks have chosen this.

Check it out at http://www.replywireless.net or http://www.choir.it for a UK reseller.

No good for you peeps who want your POP3 mail though.

For companies its got the edge over the BB. Cheaper, more features.

Looking forward to your feedback on the beta for SEVEN. They also appear to sell the Personal Edition product through Sprint in the US. I would like to join the program it looks like you just email [email protected], is that right?

Duality ROCKS!!!! :)

From the U.S. (Tampa) ... Downloaded and installed Duality onto my WinXP machine at work. We use Exchange 5.5/Outlook. I have an iMate Pocket PC Phone edition w/ T-Mobile. Flawless execution, my counterparts are using Blackberry/RIM and they are oh so jealous right now!

No tricks, I downloaded the desktop software from Handango, directions were very good. Worked "right out of the box". I am very impressed with the service and software.

Wait a second... You're saying that this actually works in the US too. What does this mean anyway?

"This product is not available to be purchased in United States or Canada. WE ASSUME NO LIABILITY BASED UPON ANY USE OF THE SOFTWARE IN THE TERRITORY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA OR CANADA."

... that they will sell it to US folks but not support it? that they are not liable is somebody gains access to your data?

Has anybody else in US done this?
