Turning off the soft keyboard pop-up

Is there any way of stopping the keyboard popping up automatically in edit mode? (iPAQ 2210, PPC 2003).

PHM (PowerToys I think, but it may be PHM PPC Plus!) also has a PHM Ext. Keyboard option. I bet you could set that as the default soft-keyboard somehow.
