I've tried out the Nevo remote for Symbian on my 3650, although unfortunately it was a trial version and I have no way of paying...But I do have Nevo for Pocket PC: the problem is, it always seems to freeze whenever I use it. Anyway, my question is, is the ipaq 4350s ir-port strong enough to send a signal to a TV/DVD/CD player.etc? I've heard only the 2210s can be used as a remote, but I'd like to see if my 4350 would work as well. Btw, any good freeware remote control applications? Thanks again.

The difference with the 2215 is that the 2215 has Consumer IR, which is much better at being a remote control etc. In my experience, all solutions for other ports than Consumer IR are mediocre at best, since the IR range simply isn't good enough. But others might feel different.

I think this has got nothing to do with strong or not strong IR. If I remember correctly, the h4350 doesn't come with Consumer IR, which is needed for Remote control app. to work.

Not really. There are several remote control applications out there for Pocket PCs that don't have Consumer IR. Most of them are severely limited in range, though, unless they provide their own IR emitters (like Ultramote (http://ultramote.com) and Total Remote (http://www.griffintechnology.com/griffinmobile/totalremote/index.html)).

Do you mean I can use it on the h4150 too?

Define "it". Many of the remote control programs that I've seen were developed before any Pocket PCs had Consumer IR. As I said, they had limited range (and angles), which is why some developers included their own IR emitters.

Ultramote uses a Compact Flash card, so while the software would probably work, you couldn't use the IR emitter. Total Remote uses the headphone jack to control the IR emitter, so that would probably work in the 4150.

There are other programs, too, such as Novii Remote (http://www.novii.tv/products/noviir/), PDAwin TV Remote (http://www.pdawin.com/tvremote.html) and VITO Remote (http://vitotechnology.com/products/remote.html).

Interestingly, the Novii Remote has an optional SD IR blaster, but it only seems to work with Palm OS PDAs.

What I meant by the "it" is Ultramote and Total Remote as you first suggested that would work on non-Consumer IR PPC. Anyway, I haven't try out any of them. PDAwin TV Remote won't work on my h4150 though. It work fine on my friend's h2210.

the ir could be strong enough or not, but there is another thing that if you find an application this wont be a remote control, rather "close control" :D
and from that distance i could push the buttons of the device than configure the software for ppc
